While we are +20 with Queta on, he's only played like 60 minutes.

Re: Welcome to Boston, Neemias Queta!
Small sample size and we are generally a good team that has a high point differential, which can make it hard to attribute the +/- directly to Quetas impact but still a good early indicator.
Guys that play garbage time on awesome teams are usually pretty close to zero because a lot of their time on the court is scrubs vs scrubs. Not necessarily the case with Queta, but an end of the bench guy with a largely positive +/- is a good start. It means he's not dragging things down too much when he plays with the main rotation guys and lineups with him are beating up other teams scrubs when it's garbage time.

We can work with this at least, even if he's sometimes lost in the offense.

Obviously Queta still has a lot of learning to go but he makes an impact now. Hopefully the Celtics stick with him a few years.

Lost in the warriors debacle is Queta was 10 and 10 with a +10 in 20 minutes in a game we lost by 6. So won by 10 with him out there, lost by 16 with him on the bench.
+/- continues to look favorably at his minutes

Queta is a really decent player. This is his 3rd year as a Two-Way. He seems to be finally emerging as a bona-fide NBA player.

Yes, they will likely convert his contract if they make a consolidation move at all. Kornet is kind of a weak sauce version of KP/Al... Queta is better than Kornet and gives us a different look. Hope Kornet gets moved as part of salary matching and Queta gets converted. If we do a 3 for 1 for example, you could convert Queta and resign blake.

It still blows my mind that Queta only gets a chance when there are so many injuries. And sadly I still believe Kornet plays over him when Kornet returns. Reason 281 why I hate Joe!
ROAD TO REPEAT !!!!

Re: Welcome to Boston, Neemias Queta!
Imagine being as big and athletic as Queta with his touch around the basket….and being on a 2-way for third straight year. Man, the NBA is just loaded these days. He looks like more than just an end of the bench guy to be. Sure hoping we don’t lose this guy this off-season.

Because he's not athletic at all and his touch is bad. It's small sample but he's taken about 76 shots almost surely 100% within 5 feet of the rim and he misses half of 'em. This season he's .533 on shots within 3 feet of the rim. Maybe he actually has great touch and you just need to let him take a bunch of shots to settle down but I don't know how you look at the way he's shot and think he has a good touch.

Because I’ve watched him, not the box scores, and can see it. He has good hands and has made quite a few tough shots around the rim because of his touch. He’s not a finished product yet, but we are not talking about a stiff here. To say he is “not athletic at all” for a 7 footer or a center is just silly. I’m not suggesting he is a lottery talent or anything but the ‘greatest Celtics team ever’ had Greg Kite as their 3rd string center. The talent level in the NBA as a whole, not necessarily the cream of the crop, is just so much better than back then.
Besides, if you get 3 rebounds of your own misses before putting it in, that 0.533% isn’t so bad.

I'm watching the games too and I see him missing everything though he does grab his own misses. The end result I guess is fine but the missing everything part doesn't bode well for his touch.
He is big but he definitely doesn't move very well. I don't know what you consider athletic but a guy who moves worse than Kornet is not athletic in my books. He jumps well though.
I like what he's given us so far but people be acting like he's Patrick Ewing.

Seems like half of Queta's rebounds are off his own misses. He's got sticky hands around the rim when it comes to grabbing boards but he's mechanical and clunky as a finisher.

Re: Welcome to Boston, Neemias Queta!
His touch around the rim is not good. It's not terrible, though. He at least is able to hit *some* shots from a little further away, like in the 5-10 foot range from the basket. Something Rob could pretty much never do, even in his 5th season in the league.
And a lot of Queta's rebounds do come from rebounding his own misses, so his rebound numbers are a little deceiving.

I am very in favor of giving Queta more run and sitting Al/KP regularly though. He's worth the minutes and he does give us something we don't have at the C position.
