I love this perspective.XTC wrote:Raptors fan chiming in.
If you're slumping but still putting up 20/6/4 on a team that's 16-9 while only being 22. That's an amazing slump. He's an amazing young player that's going through growing pains, which every young player goes through. Kid is a future allstar.

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

He's probably at about 90% of what his best is. He will be a solid #3 option on a contender. Right now, he's forced to be more, which works against bad teams, but not good ones.

It's like people forget immediately what he's capable of the second things look bleak.
Actually.... that's where this Magic board is.... we're winning... and they are doing good... "Max contract player"..... they have a slump and lose... "Trade him"
And in Fultz's case for many.... just trade him no matter what. Lol
I come for information and I've been here for while... the site is habitual.... but usually its just a lot of knee jerk comments filling most feeds.

It's true. Just enjoying the ride at the moment.
It's OK for Franz to be in a slump. He will figure it out. He has got time. This forum is way too knee jerk and thats half the fun.

There should be some kind of gap between questioning a players form and asking to trade him, no?

i agree. I believe he has the skills to be a good solid option 2, but he is not mentally built to be alpha A/B. He is more of a 3rd.Skybox wrote:Skin wrote:He's good, but not great. I think this dead on accurate…and that’s not a knock on Franz. He’s, imo, more like prime Hedo than a #1 option. If he’s your #3 - you’ve got a chance to be a really good team.
He came into the league close to fully formed…he’s improved but it’s more refinements than the kind of epiphanies we hope for with most rookies these days (who come in as clueless lumps of clay). I expect Franz will improve his defense and his 3pt shooting but he feels pretty close to “complete”. He might be an All-Star if the offense is put more in his hands, but I don’t think that’s really the optimal likely vision.
Regarding recent “slump”…just temporary reality check. Brown is equally skilled but far stronger and more athletic, particularly defensively. Franz was having his way with lesser opposition. He’ll bounce back. Shooting tends to go bad when everything else goes bad and you tighten up With frustration. I hope the team is able to handle the recent challenges mentally, not spiral into a slump, and remember what brought them so much growth. In the meantime, a realistic FO should be working the phones rather than expect good players like Black, Cole, Suggs, WCJ, etc to wake up one day as All-Stars. Suggs has the mentality to be much more- but perhaps not the skill level (yet?).

Like I’ve been saying last year, him deferring to teammates is not a good sign for alpha.
