Not in hiding anymore. Rambling Gores interview via athletic.
Yeah, it doesn't sound good at all.

If you sign up for their free BS you can read the interview. Here are some snippets;
When you talked with the front office and coaching staff before the season, what were the expectations everyone had for this group?
We wanted to be competing every day, a chance for the Play-In, playoffs. We wanted our players to grow. That would have been success for us. That’s what we discussed. We knew that we had a lot of growing to do. Those were the expectations: to compete, grow and be near the playoffs. That’s how you grow the most. Make no mistake about it, that was the expectations.
With that, given the start, have you seriously considered any type of changes to the front office and/or coaching staff?
Change is coming. I’m just saying that in terms of Monty, Troy, all of that stuff … they will be in place, but I’m all over them. They’ll tell you that too. There’s a lot of accountability that needs to be held. There might be additions to staff and all of that stuff. What’s for sure is that change is coming. We’re not right, right now. We have to add and delete. We’re on it already. We will make changes. We will make them. We don’t know exactly what they’ll be yet.
How does it feel when fans are chanting, “Sell the team!”?
They can say what they want, but that’s ridiculous. Other than winning — and we should win more games — we do a lot in the community. Players, the organization, we do a lot in the community. If you put aside winning, we’ve made a very big difference in the community. That means a lot to me. I understand that’s only going to mean a lot to people if we win, but the underworking of what’s happening and with our community, over all these years, is there. We’re doing multibillion-dollar things outside of (basketball). I understand the fans being upset, but it’s a ridiculous thought.
It is a much longer interview, and as a fan, you should read the whole thing. Rambling, idiotic, and pathetic.
TLDR;
Front office will remain in place, and selling the team is ridiculous. changes are coming, but not in the ways that count.
Good luck everybody! Merry Christmas!

He and Weaver ramble so much. They never say a **** thing. Jive. I think they're cocaine pals. Nothing else can explain this **** horror show of the last few years.

I thought Cade was supposed to be this connector, making others around him better. Wasn't that Gores' motto after the draft? Eventually him and Weaver need to pay for their mistakes. This team has some decent pieces but lack true leadership and star power. Just a bunch of middling B- prospects until they prove otherwise.

This part says everything: " We will make changes. We will make them. We don’t know exactly what they’ll be yet."
Totally clueless and zero immediacy.

At this point, I don’t want Weaver to make any trades. I want him gone

I dunno. I don't see that happening.
Something is coming though so at least we have that to look forward to

I disagree with all attacks on Cade.Moses ShamMoses wrote:I thought Cade was supposed to be this connector, making others around him better. Wasn't that Gores' motto after the draft? Now does my opinion matter more then yours?
Nope. At 2-26 it does not.
I could opine on how the proper team hasn't been placed around Cade, and in a different situation he would already be an all-star and budding superstar,
and hell i could be right, but again, at 2-26, it doesn't matter.
What matters is that the owner of the Pistons, Tom Gores, stated that he, Troy, and Monty will remain.
The focus should be on them, for not building, or coaching a proper team, and for not showing any accountability.
I won't engage in any arguments about players, as it truly doesn't matter. The sickness is the front office, coaching, and ownership. The players are just the symptom. I will not, and cannot blame them as they had no say in who they play with, or what plays, or rotations are run.
I won't blink if Cade is moved. 2-26.
It honestly cannot get any worse then the absolute bottom. This is it. It now becomes a question of how much time does the team need to spend at the bottom, to rebound into a functional franchise.
Until this delusional;
"Change is coming. I’m just saying that in terms of Monty, Troy, all of that stuff … they will be in place"
Way of thinking is addressed, the Pistons will remain in the depths.

Thanks for posting
Tried to read the Freep article but my eyes glazed over from the MBA/corporate double-speak. The most cringe-worthy line in IMO:
Um, there are a lot of things I was hoping for this holiday season, but "a conversation" wasn't on my list. Actually, you'd have to pay me to sit and listen to Tom Gores for more than 2 minutes; that interview was a whole lot of words with zero content.

I’ve been thinking about this for a long time about how to communicate with fans. We owe them a conversation . . .

In a no-win argument, the first poster to Let It Go will at least retain some peace of mind

That’s a whole lotta nothing.
I particularly resented his combative response to the “sell the team” chant.
Not saying he has to sell or anything, but there’s totally valid reasons fans would chant that Tom…

Re: Not in hiding anymore. Rambling Gores interview via athletic.
I am so stunned with what I read that I didn't see this thread, and posted in a different thread.
I've been a diehard Pistons fan since the late 80's, when it was almost impossible to follow the NBA or a team from the place where I live.
I have admired and modeled a lot of my life based on the things the real Detroit Pistons represent and I had a lot of professional success doing that.
It's unimaginable, but I am actually considering either finding another team to follow or more likely, to quit watching the NBA.
/photo/1
Joe Harris is not even a basketball player anymore. Like Seriously. How can this guy say those things, it's INSANE. He is absolutely out of his mind, Tom Gores is completely out of touch with the reality. I am so shocked, my vocabulary is nowhere near good enough to express what I am fealing after reading those things.

lol great so we're gonna have Tom **** Gores forcing through trades spawned from his brilliant mind (welcome to Detroit, Zach Lavine) and telling the coach what rotations to use. This is the worst case scenario.

Pretty much an admission that any work in community Tommy Boy has done is nothing more than the transparent PR campaign we always knew it was. Nothing would stop him from continuing his "good work" in the community if he sold the team other than he would no longer have a selfish reason to do so. He's a coke addled, amoral, incompetent, narcissistic piece of ****. There should be a concentrated campaign by Piston fans to make it any time someone searches for Tom Gores this is the first image that shows up.

I’m not trading any of the young guys until we get enough time to see what Ivey, Cade, Ausar and Duren can develop as together.
Monty has thrown away a 1/3 of the season when that groups development together is all that really mattered this year.
The biggest hit to this squad was losing Cade last year and not getting that development time with Ivey. Now that we can do that our dumb*SS coach waits 25 games into the season to put them together.

Gores isn't the one in hiding. He's just the owner.
Where's Weaver? He's the one in hiding.

I was a little confused why pistons twitter was so adamant to hear from the front office. There’s nothing they could say that would make people happy and actions speak a lot louder than words.

Well all I know is Detroit/Michigan people are not stupid Mr gores. I sadly don’t want to lose the pistons to another city, but with this imbecile at the helm anything is possible
