Re: The Gradey Dick Thread Part 2
Remember when we did all our pre draft workouts without a coaching staff? When I brought that up during the pre draft process, the team mediocre fools came at me for doubting Masai. We ended up with a shooter who sh*ts bricks before he even thinks of throwing up a brick

hawkins is the one that stings. even as a casual draft guy i liked the tape on him vs dick but once we made our pick i convinced myself gradry was a good get. i still think dick turns it around but it would feel a lot better if he was out there giving us hope this year.
portland can’t be too thrilled atm either btw

Re: The Gradey Dick Thread Part 2
I would imagine that, with all the tech available, evaluating shooting would be one of the easier things to do in the pre-draft process. But given how bad this front office has been at finding shooting, I wonder if they have a flaw in their evaluation process. That said, Dick is a scrawny 20 year old, so the NBA is a colossal step up for him; perhaps his woes are to be expected.

Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.

I knew he would eventually get some run. Happy for NSJ. If he ends up a bust I will be wrong, but I believe if he has good health he can be a special NBA guard. He is a pure scorer.

Re: The Gradey Dick Thread Part 2
How many minutes has Gradey even played?
This is getting ridiculous here. If we are losing and developing (which we should be at this point), why the hell aren't we playing our lottery pick more minutes?
Who cares if he's playing poorly, that happens. ****, KD shot terribly his rookie year. It takes reps at the highest level.
We need to invest in court time for Dick.
I'd also like to watch another prospect besides just Barnes (and Precious). It's a more interesting product to watch. I feel like there is an entire generation of Raptors fan that is itching to see a youth movement. It's been a decade since we had that chance. I'm a day one fan. I've watched years of bad ball. Let's watch it with hope for the future.

It’s due to the disconnect between what Masai says and what he wants. He says he wants development but he really wants us to win now. The good news for Gradey is our season will be over after our west coast swing so he’ll get more minutes.

They should just let Gradey play 30 mpg this team isn't going anywhere anyways.

I concur, if he sinks he sinks he can't get any worse right now

We've gotta trade more FRPs so we can get him that all important play in experience.

Props TZ!

I concur as well. We should be giving Grady more minutes at NBA level and let him sink or swim. But Masai’s directive is to also try to win.
As said before, this is what happens when you are trying to both win and develop at the same time. You end up doing neither well. This is where we stand at this point.

You don’t develop talent by force feeding them minutes. Gradey isn’t ready. Let him develop properly.
And that’s great that you’ve said that before but historically, it’s not even close to being accurate. Were we winning when we developed Pascal, Fred, Norm, OG, Delon, Poeltl?

Since picking Barnes, Masai and Bobby have been bottom 5 in the NBA...

lots of other rookies are getting decent minutes, and developing its not an exact science. Theres 10 rookies getting 20mpg.
Fred, Norm, Poeltl were behind guys like Lowry, Demar, JV. Of course they werent gona get big minutes. OG as a raw rookie got 20mpg. He was needed at SF.
