We need lineup changes. Our starting 5 is a -13. We can't keep digging ourselves a hole and hoping our bench digs us out of it. Send Cam T to the bench and let him learn how to be a lead guard. Start DFS and play big

I was surprised he didn’t play in the 4th quarter at all. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s back in the 6th man role in the next game.

Marks can draft. Sharpe is playing like a starting center.

After we caught them at about the seven minute mark, we built a modest, usually around a two possession, lead. We held that pretty much to the end. I can't remember any Piston but Cunningham scoring. At about the one minute mark, Cade brought it to within two, and I thought Cam would be brought in then. But on the next play DFS hit a three, and JV stayed with the defense. He hit another two to bring it down to five, but that was their last score.

So I'm guessing it's situational. Anyway, DFS' 3 really dampened Detroit's run, I was just surprised that CT wasn't brought back into the game.

Thomas is still a net negative. He's our best scorer, but he doesn't defend, doesn't rebound, doesn't facilitate. He's best suited to be a microwave scorer off the bench. He may someday improve his overall game, but he's got tunnel vision right now.
We're better when we play bigger, and Thomas isn't ready to be a PG.

I suspect he will be coming off the bench in our next game. He didn't play the entire 4th quarter.

I’m really starting to get annoyed by people who constantly defend JVs decisions with Cam t by saying he doesn’t play defense. The whole starting line up plays crap defense. Spencer allows everyone to get by him. Bridges tries by put to be honest I’m not seeing this great defensive player they made him out to be. Johnson is horrible at it although he is playing out of position. Nic is the only on who plays well on defense but his d isn’t as good as last season.
Cam doesn’t play because they are trying so desperately to push this idea that bridges and Johnson are star players. It’s that simple. But they are very good role players. Number 2 and 3 guys. Not stars. Not leading scorers. Cam has the potential to be that. But for the past 3 years all they have done is hold him back from it.

Cam T cant playmake, defend, or rebound. If we start him and spence we are to small. Just start cam t as lead guard it get ugly. Cam T worked best with Ben.

I totally agree. It is repugnant to me to demean a player, and I think redundant because of the number of specialists in that art. I appreciate Cam's natural scoring ability. And I do not think believing the team is better with him coming off the bench is doing that. I just want to add a few additional points to the discussion.
To begin with Cam is playing nearly identical 30+ minutes to Spencer, and Ben (when he plays). This is just a couple of minutes less than Mikal, who I believe is better and more important. I do not understand how anyone can claim he is being held back. To say he doesn't play to make others look better is therefor false if you look at minutes played. To claim that Cam's defense is in any way comparable to the proven defense of our best is patently ludicrous. I think that the team defense has suffered by incorporating the "Drop" this year, and the necessary acclimation. After switching everything for so long, it is not yet instinctive to fight through screens, know when to it's OK to go under them, or to help and recover. (I think they call it Hedge now, to screw up my mind.) As far as everyone else being less competent, I would point out that Bridges, CJ, DFS, and Walker, for example, have better scoring efficiencies. Even Royce, whose efficiency is misunderstood has a better three point percentage, and looks less efficient because he takes only one two a game. So your point about usage is important in understanding points scored.
I don't know if it was JV or Shakespeare's Cassius who said: "The fault ... is not in our stars, But in ourselves, that we are underlings." Sometimes, some things, are not everyone else's fault.

Cam doesn't play because he is not a good fit with the starters. He has a limited skillset, so he doesn't compliment a team that is in desperate need of playmaking, defense and rebounding.
Sure he can score, but scoring had never been easier in the NBA. The Nets are a bottom 10 defense and we are like 14-1 when we hold opponents to under 120 points. We need to shift our focus to defending and not trying to win shootouts

Doesn’t fit with the starters but then you go back to defense at the end. Is it both? The defense thing is addressed in my post. The not fitting with the starters is because they aren’t using him correctly. Many many games this year the nets lost in the final mins of the games because they had a lead and then couldn’t score. And in all of those games cam was on the bench in the last 2 or 3 mins until they already blew their lead and JV put him back in to try to win.
Everyone talks about defense. Defense is very important to winning in the league but so is offense. A good offense will beat any defense in the league. Players like curry and Durant prove that every day. If you have good offense then yes defense is the most important thing. But if your offense is as streaky as this teams it’s more important. They almost lost to the damn pistons last night.
The simple fact is this team wants to prove that they got stars in return for Durant. And while I like bridges and Johnson they aren’t star players. They are role players and you can’t make them into stars. They are very good role players but just that. Cam has his limitations. But he has gotten better defensively and offensively. He is doing it efficiently. He doesn’t just chuck up shots. He is usually. 50 percent or better from the field. While bridges keep chucking up shots and missing. But cam goes to the bench.
