Long way to go, but if Ja Morant can get the Grizzlies back in the playoff picture without missing anymore games he should seriously enter the conversation for MVP.

He da real MVP. Especially with Embiid missing more time, I think SGA’s clearly the most valuable player so far this season.
65 games until we get there Embiid is 100% in it.

Seems like they’re all pretty tight to me.

This is not some end all be all for mvp. The LAKERS are the 9th SEED. Their record is 16-15. He’s not in any tier with Giannis and Luka

Lakers are +3.3 with LeBron on the floor. Mavs are +2.2 with Luka on the floor. I’m not going to disqualify Bron for having a worse bench.

You should disqualify him for having AD on his team. That's two Top 10 players on the same roster, you don't get MVP consideration when you've got that and are in the play-in.

To stack rank the top 5 this week gonna be hard with Embiid missing time and Ja being outrageous- ja get an honorable mention even if he ain’t in it-

It’s the usual suspects this week more than ever - Luka, giannis, jokic, sga and Embiid -

Does Embiid lose ground for missing time and Luka get extra points for humiliating the suns- even with SGA beating the best team in the west - It feels like

Jokic 1
Luka 2
SGA 3
Giannis 4
Embiid 5

Ja with the honorable mention

Morant cannot get it. He is ineligible. You need to play a minimum of 65 games. The most he can play is 57 games.

While Mavs are winning, Luka has three new starters in the lineup. He revived 2 league min in Jones Jr./Exum and teamed with rookie Lively II. If you think that is at the same difficulty as LeBron with AD and the same cast that was in the western conference finals...

Do people seriously think LeBron is in the conversation?

Once Kyrie gets back and all the blitzing/doubling stops Luka's going to light the league up.

I thought Shai was a bit overrated last season but I was wrong. He's the real deal...just need a better 3pt% to be the best player in the NBA not named Jokic. I think he should be second in the MVP ranking right now behind Embiiid but it's a close race.

All these guys are too close. Seeding should play a bigger part this year. This isn’t one of those years a 5th or 6th seed should be winning mvp.

I don't think seeding should matter. Players shouldn't be penalized or rewarded for how good their supporting cast is

it shouldn't but it will since they are so close in terms of production. Can't think of Doncic of Shai winning MVP if the mavs or thunder are not top 3 or top 4.

Awesome analysis by a podcaster i m often not in agreement with but i respect a lot.

He is in no way a Doncic fan.
He had him 6th or so in his last mvp rankings last week.

Nah seeding should definitely play a bigger role this year when these guys are close. I think it’s a little bs people trying to play it up as Embiid, Jokic and Giannis again when to me that’s far from the truth. Luka and SGA are all on the same level.

If Embiid is a one or two seed with his strong play he should be mvp over Luka as a 5 seed. Even though Luka has a weaker team to carry he’s not far and away better than the competition.

SGA being ahead of Luka on any list is a really unfunny joke.

I think there are many voters who feel they got bullied into voting for Embiid last year. Wouldnt be surprised if Embiid ends up with better stats and a better record than Luka and still loses to him

No they didn't lmao. Please site a few tweets or articles or podcasts from reporters that had an actual vote saying they got bullied into voting for Embiid. Seriously the excuses at this point are pathetic.

So you're saying the straw poll is worthless lol. Usually it's a great indicator of who the winner will be. Still early, and lots of time for things to change, but right now Embiid is winning by a landslide. Wow, Luka is really winning right now. Those pollsters don't know what they're talking about...

Good lord, the ways people try to rationalize this.

Now I wll say Luka is playing like he deserves it. However his stats are still not as good as Embiid's and neither is his record. Unless he has one of those, I doubt he wins it.
