Letting a star's value go completely down the crapper despite clearly being overdue for stockpiling cheaper youth and draft picks is becoming a tradition. I honestly don't hate their overall body of work, but they're getting what they deserved for not tearing it down and trading Rodgers for a haul after the last playoff loss when the era was clearly over. And I don't care if Jaire was still young and elite, he was being paid accordingly and they were only going to waste a few years of his prime regardless of whether he was still productive for their next window of contention, which he pretty clearly won't be. Textbook diva, you deserve whatever you get when you do business with that type.

ETA: Something tells me they weren't too worried about having to play without him next game either.

when youre an unserious franchise that keeps Joe Barry for 3 years too long, this **** will happen. not giving Jaire and excuse, but we all see the circus known as the defense.

I don't know that they really missed an opportunity to trade Jaire unless you think he should have been traded before his extension, and at that point they were trying to win SBs. Dead money wise I don't think it was really feasible to deal him since signing his new deal. Even outside the money/cap aspect I don't know that his trade value has been that high since his last elite year which was 2020. He was hurt most of 21 and last year he was good but not elite.

Jaires a good example of perception vs reality of this D. Like we act like we have a lock down CB but really how much 'elite' play have they really gotten from him the past 3 years?

I would bet the bigger issue was Alexander making himself captain. The botched coin flip thing is stupid and worthy of an asschewing but not a suspension.

He's also always teetered on the edge between brash and ****. Who knows what he's like in the locker room.

This isn't a league of church boy saints, there's a level of BS that every team sweeps under the rug. When you start hearing the noise and suspensions are getting handed out I can confidently say we only see the tip of the iceberg. I think things are bad bad.

I think it's fair to say it's been a weird situation with his health this season, but it also seems like a lot of people are using it to justify their dislike of his personality and I think that's kinda ****. I know as Packer fans we tend not to have too many of the cocky, diva-ish guys, but this is football and not every dude needs to be a Boy Scout. When Barry's gone next year and we're still seeing the same stuff? He doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt then.

Some coaches struggle tacticly but still have some value because they are good leaders. What the hell is Joe Barry good at because it sure seems like he's completely lost this group and we can all see the tactical failure in games.

All he had to do was ask MLF if he could be a captain since it was his hometown. I'm fine with "divas" if they perform but doing this after missing a bunch of games wasn't being a diva, it was being a dumb ****

Yep. And that's why we keep Jaire til we see what we have with a real D-coordinator.

I wonder if Ja bailed on Barry as a leader a year or more ago. IIRC, (20 or 21?) where Ja was assigned one side of the field and the opponent's best WR moved around, the Pack got picked apart. Ja was not happy post game, and that grumpiness lingered.

To be fair, that could just be me creating fan fiction

They suspended him because he didn't show any contrition and undermined his own head coach. My guess is that they waited until now to do so to see if he'd actually apologize, but he hasn't, so this is to wake his ass up.

Point your fingers at whomever you wish. Lafleur has lost the locker room.

Taking a question about Barry and throwing the players under the bus was the point of no return.

I chuckle whenever someoe says with any degree of certainty that the coach has lost the locker room. As if the team was this unit that all felt one way, as if it wasn't a collection of 53 individuals all with different motivations.

Such a weird situation, he mysteriously doesn't play for several weeks and then, suddenly, he plays when it's his hometown and he hasn't played there since HS... He doesn't want to play for GB anymore or at least for our DC, IMO.

One of the problems is the lack of leadership in the locker room. Last season we had 3-5 players that were considered legitimate leaders. All those players are gone now. Jaire is supposed to be a leader, which one of his teammates puts him in line? It's tough to say if we have a legitimate leader on this team to do something like that.

So sick of most of the vets on this team, acting like idiots, no-showing performances and just unavailable all the time.

The trickle down in lack of accountability in not firing berry probably doesnt help either

Well I wouldn't say Rodgers was a locker room leader, I don't think most of the players actually liked him. they respected his talent sure. But when Rodgers spoke up it was about Rodgers. Cobb's best years in GB were a decade ago. Mercedes Lewis, Mason Crosby, Sammy Watkins, Dean Lowry, I wouldn't say any of them were legit leaders last year. Jones, Dillon, Jenkins, Preston, Gary are still here. The offensive players seem very cohesive and in sync and they're the young ones. It's the defense that's a mess. Get a new DC in here and clean out defensive players and position coaches who aren't performing.
