If he continues at around the same level of play for the entire year -

Does he go top 10 in a re-draft? I think he just might slip out

Most rookies, if continued at their rookie level, wouldn't go Top 10 on a re-draft.

This makes no sense.

When factoring expectations and draft position, and on court struggles - He's probably the biggest dropper in a re-draft.

No one thinks that Chet or Cason or Asur or Miller or Lively to name a few won't go in the top 10 if they continued similar play for the rest of the year.

Here is Scoot vs Millers per75 possession basic box score stats so far. Miller turned 21 a month ago and Scoot is 19 until February.

Scoot
15.2 pts ~ 3.8 reb ~ 5.8 ast ~ 0.8 stl ~ 0.3 blk ~ 4.3 tov ~ 5.3 pf
43.0% 2pt (10.0 2pta) ~ 25.0% 3pt (5.3 3pta) ~ 77.8% ft (3.3 fta) ~ 1.34 ast/tov

Miller
17.0 pts ~ 4.7 reb ~ 2.6 ast ~ 0.8 stl ~ 0.6 blk ~ 2.0 tov ~ 3.3 pf
47.4% 2pt (9.1 2pta) ~ 37.6% 3pt (5.8 3pta) ~ 79.2% ft (2.3 fta) ~ 1.30 ast/tov

Could be wrong but I think Assist to turnover is a pretty bad metric to use. It really downplays how often someone who's giving you 11 points and 4 assists is turning the ball over. Or how reasonable Miller's turnovers are given he's averaging 17 points and 2.6 assists worth of possessions.

Note you can seperate the first ten games and last 9 for Scoot and while he hasn't been amazing it's been a turnaround. Only 2.6 turnovers vs 4 assists and close to 40% FG shooting. More points than FGA. Not great but if that was his entire sample so far, you wouldn't think bust or can't play at this level.

Let's playin for 9th!

The funny part of this thread to me is that it started out like this... predraft...

Scooters: He is a stud, would go #1 in most drafts, a team would be a fool to not take him. Has that dawg in him and he might win ROY. His shooting, size and defense aren't worrisome at all.

Others: Yeah, not sure he is that good. I have him more as the 4th-5th guy in this draft.

Scooters: Wow you are way off, this thread will be a gold mine to look back through...

Flash Forward to today.

Others: Wow Scoot is struggling, probably shouldn't have went so high. Struggling to shoot and a lot of other concerns are turning to be real flags.

Scooters: You calling him a bust? He isn't a bust. Look here he had a few good games and if you ignore x and y he is like the 10th best rookie.

Others: Yeah, not calling him a bust. I agree more like the 7-10 type of guy... as I said all along...

Scooters: Wow, now you are going back on your words.

Others: .....

Except if Scoot is already a busy and you had him #4 or #5, then you are also wrong. That's sort of the point.

"I had him Top 5, you had him #2, you're an idiot for having him Top 2"

That's literally Big J's stance, lol.

The fact that the conversation has went from "he might be the best player in this draft" to arguing whether he is a bust or not says all that needs to be said. If you want to look big picture and stop trying to win the conversation on technicalities and pulling partial quotes from posters and trying to poke holes in arguments.

Hilarious that you are including a game Miller left in the 1st quarter in an already micro 5 game sample to skew the numbers.
Averaging 16.25 ppg in his last 4 prior to that, but hey lets toss it in to help Scoot look better.

He had some very nice drives in this game with some tough finishes. Good to see.
17 pts on 15 shots is alright but still just 43% efg for the game. Def not the end of the world.

Real question, who has been more impressive him or Keyonte George?

If Keyonte was drafted in the Top 5 people would be calling him a bust.

But they have been similar. Scoot was really bad for the first month, worse than Keyonte. But since then has been better than Keyonte.

Keyonto also has a much better team around him to succeed offensively with Collins/Lauri and a ton of veterans.

They're just moving the goal posts in to make the track smaller so they can take more laps.

And here you are again derailing the thread. Do you offer any real stats/data/takes or do you just post the same thing over and over again? I ask rhetorically.

It is laughable how many of your posts literally provide zero value.

Apparently you can't say Scoot had a few nice drives or it is shifting the goal posts? Do I have to make every post about him negative? Would that make you feel better and help you sleep at night? Or do you just lay there dreaming to wake up and be able to post something about laptaking blah blah blah.

I watched the game. He was not that impressive. The Kings sucked on defense. His passes were ordinary. He had 2-3 nice drives. That’s it. He might end up good but he has a long ways to go.

Just gotta say, while I think some of you guys provide nice insight to this forum, you are also some of the most toxic people. Yeah yeah, “welcome to the internet” blah blah blah

Sometimes it feels like some of you act like you’re on the cusp of being hired by some NBA franchise and have never been wrong and could never be wrong. My god.

It is close to impossible to always predict each players future. Because players develop but sometimes they don’t. Too many variables

This past game against SAC was the Scoot I was expecting when we drafted him. Explosive on offense, excellent ball mover (Didnt pound the rock much), aggressive on defense, etc. To me thats his signature game so far.

The shot needs to improve, but everyone knew that. He is converting much better at the rim and getting to the rim at a rate much higher than early in the season.

Its been bumpy, but he is clearly improving week to week.

I expected him to be a 15 / 6 type as a rookie w/ low 40, low 30, high 70 shooting splits. For DEC he is fairly close to those figures.
