No "traditional" Xmas meals for me. Tomorrow night is king crab legs and lobster. Monday is steak and scallops.

Christmas Day has never been a thing in my family but I could usually count on a fun Christmas Eve. Won't be that way here tomorrow and it's a bummer. But I have a handful of days off so I'll be making myself productive.

I bought a 1.5lb rib eye to cook for myself on Christmas Eve.

I don't eat much beef anymore but I cannot wait. It's in the fridge dry brining right now

May or may not have covid and have a lovely pork tenderloin wrapped in bacon for Xmas. Despite the illness, hoping to have the energy to go snowboarding otherwise it's watching the Bucks pound the Knicks per usual.

50s and raining across Wisconsin is wild, never have I seen a christmas that warm. Scrolled through the snow analysis maps on the NOAA website last night and this may be the first green xmas in central wisco in atleast 20 years (even though i swear i remember one but the site disagreed).

Green Xmas in SE Wisconsin happens 51% of the time per local weather guy. I hate winter so the longer until we get snow the better. Last year was bitter below zero at Xmas.

It was (is! There’s enough in the fridge for weeks!). Falling apart a little when cutting into it at first but then was able to get nice, long slices. Made a glaze with butter, dijon, maple syrup, orange juice, lime juice and some grated ginger- coloured well without going too dark. Took about 4 hours, rested it for an hour.

I think it constituted my sodium intake for the next month, so lucky I have so much leftover!

First holiday dinner I can say was a near complete failure. Food was pretty bad, from conception to execution. Except what I contributed. What I made was incredibly fire. But the company was a lot of fun and it was wonderful seeing the kids have such a great time, especially with my gifts, which were again completely dope. I honestly killed it today.

Glad to be home. My feet are sore. But someone got me a jar of fancy olives as a gift and I'm putting a little of that brine to good use.

Me and my wonderful wife got most things right today. Maybe not the forgotten gift that was left 'on the cupboard by Santa'. The dinner-plate sized chocolate freckle was a resounding hit. As was the German potato salad, lamb roast, glazed ham and seafood.

Doing an emergency hosting job today because my Dad came down with covid. Thanking my lucky stars that my disaster instincts kicked in at the grocery store the other day, and I bought all the fixings for a big lasagna meal.

Missed the first half of the Bucks game, planned to watch the second, and missed it because as I was about to turn it on someone gasped super dramatically and said OH MY GOD :lol:
