So Joe Ingles...

Post#1 » by byeganyo » Thu Dec 28, 2023 2:36 am

Another kneejerk thread and a bit made up stat - we are 15-5 when he plays at least 15 minutes and 3-7 when he does not.
So when is he coming back?
Everyone is on the same page regarding the need of ball handling and 3pt shooting, it seems, so nothing more to be said.

I mean, evidence is mounting. His absence hurts Cole, who gets pushed closer to a role he has always failed in. It hurts Moe Wagner, who loses his primary pick and roll creator. And we appreciate his status as a legitimate shooter if left open. It's a fragile state to be in if 15 minutes of 36 year old Joe Ingles is that important to you, but here we are.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

How many times have we been without BOTH Joe Ingles and Gary Harris?

Scientists are attempting to de-extinct the Dodo bird but what they really need to do is find out how to make Joe Ingles five years younger.

If Ingles plays the SIxers game, Okeke does not get 15 minutes. Sounds like a net-plus to me!

Not too far off…we need to be scouring the league for a younger student with similar promise…I’ve never fully ingested the Kool-Aid, but could Giddey be a target? It’s all about basic skills and special BBIQ. I know Giddey has never been a great shooter, but maybe he’s enough of a threat to open things up for all of the “invisible “ Ingles-like stuff he does. The Aussie Connection is secondary, but a plus. Definitely a departure from the shooters I like but Ingles, in limited mins, shows how exceptional BBIQ makes the whole team better.

From statistical pov, Joe Ingles was always Lebron James of role players.

Jack of all trades, elite 3 point shooter, underrated passer, elite off ball, not as bad defender as he looks etc.

If you go back in 2019-20 he was one of 3 people to average at least 5 APGs on +39% for 3. Others were Vleet and Lillard

Year prior he had even better stats and was one of 6 players to achive that.

Problem is age. Guy is 36. Might retire in April.

The whole season our offence has been much better when he plays. He is by far the best playmaker on the team, one of the smartest players in the league and his 3 point shooting and spacing also comes very handy on a team badly lacking in these areas. I really hope he will be back soon.

My kinda knee jerk thread. He is at the very least an S-tier locker room and bench presence. The guy you want on your team. If I would be management, I would want a bench full of Joe Ingles type characters and utility.

If we make a trade, I would want to find the functional equivalence of Joe Ingles but at the guard spot. Someone crafty but wont rob too many touches / possessions from our guys, but give you impact on the floor you see and feel.

Wait he is out? No wonder we are losing.

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.
