Is Trevor Gleeson a Terry Stotts replacement, or not that level of hire?

Middleton has averaged just 24 minutes a game this year, and has missed numerous games.
I'm a Middleton fan, but it's pretty disingenuous to give him all the credit for our success this year.
What I'm saying is that when you talk about our offense without Dame Lillard being good as a knock on Bud and a credit to Griffin is dumb because we have had really good offenses without Dame Lillard with Bud coaching and the obvious "but last year!" excuse I know is going to be used is pretty discredited considering Khris didn't really even play.
Yes, Bud didn't have Dame, but you do realize he had Jrue, right? Are you saying Cam Payne is as good as Jrue?
Mids has only played 24 minutes a game this year, while missing a bunch of games. So guess what, a bunch of the minutes with Dame off, we also didn't have Midds.

There's just no shot you're comparing Khris playing 26 games out of 31 to him playing 33 the whole all of last season.
Griff has the entirety of his team (especially the core) to work with this season and the offense is good. When Bud had the entirety of his team to work with the offense was good as well. Saying otherwise is just lying to yourself, which I'm not surprised about.

Griff has his whole team? That's your argument of why the offense is still good when Dame sits? I'm going to venture to say when Dame sits, Griff doesn't have Dame, or Jrue. Still a top 5 offense.

Yes I would say not being forced to play inferior players large amounts of time at inopportune times is a great asset to allowing your team to play better. If Dame sat out 50 games do you believe we'd have the same level of offense with him off the court compared to finding 15 spare minutes?
Sample size and all but Dame has missed 2 games this season. Bucks ORTG those games? 109. Two losses.

Sorry we're not using the Bucks forum to discuss movies and the Packers man.

The upside of that, I think by design, is that the Bucks are very good at guarding the three point line, a previous weakness.
I wouldn't pick up opposing players until they reach the three point line and I wouldn't be having Giannis way out on the court on defense unless necessary.
You’ve identified the problem. Whether the guards or the bigs, they are all coming out far from the hoop to challenge. Would better personnel help? Of course. But he wants those guards up above the three point line.

Stotts was the lead assistant, Gleeson sits in the second row next to Vin. Given that he's coming in 1/3 through the season he'll likely be at that level the rest of the season. Seems like a solid coach.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

It’s why the zone looks decent and why they can do well at end of games. In both situations they stop worrying about picking up way beyond the three point line and focus on staying in front and rebounding.

I for one enjoy watching Bobby show past the three point line on a guard in defensive stance with crazy eyes as a pass whizzes by his head to an unguarded layup.

At the three point line is too late for most guys, but nevertheless this is a big problem. One of the reasons is that you can't really help that far out on the floor without leaving somebody alone behind you. You can't stunt to deter a drive if you have to recover 20 feet one pass away. I get this image in my head of the martial arts movie thing where the crowd of bad guys fight the overwhelmingly outnumbered good guy one at a time. The way we guard in transition is another offshoot of this.
It's not the only problem, though. I think the main problem is still communication, both between coaches and players and between players. You've got stuff like the ball defender chasing over a screen to the middle of the floor and the big shading the baseline giving up the middle. Have also seen the inverse with the ball defender icing the screen and the big in the middle of the floor. This kind of stuff is happening a lot. Guys don't know what their responsibilities are, and it's not always the same guys.
I'm not saying there couldn't be another explanation but I feel the ineffective coaching in my skeleton.

I’d trade our 1st rounder this year for a future 1st, to open up more trade flexibility. On draft night of course, can’t do it now.
Weakish draft, still would have a mid 30s pick. Plus we’d still have some combination of young guys AJJ, Marjon, Green, Tyty, Livingston all still around needing minutes.

Re: Bucks News, Transactions, Trade Ideas
Just playing around with things but something like this would be interesting even if it has no chance of actually happening.
Bucks: KD, Gordon
Suns: Dame, MarJon, Por 2nd
Heard on a pod that KD is frustrated and Dame just talked about how hard it is to be so far away from his kids this season. Our D gets a boost with KD without sacrificing O but we obviously now have no starting caliber pg. The Suns get the pg they've needed all season and the best player they could get in a KD trade along with a young athletic wing. Dame is now an hour and a half plane ride to his kids and KD gets to go to another place with a legitimate chance at a championship.
A lineup of Gordon, Midds, KD, Giannis, and Brook should be pretty solid defensively while also packed with offensive firepower.

I mean, we're seeing stuff like this on a regular basis still and that's a problem. Like, what is Bobby doing here? What's the upside to this defensive possession even if one of the other guys (I'm guessing either Giannis or Dame?) rotates "correctly" to stop the easy dunk? You allow a wide open corner 3 (Giannis rotates), or you get Dame switched onto a 6'11, 260 lbs Center 5-8 feet from the basket? This is just setting your players up to fail over and over again. This isn't Nash and Amare picking you apart. These are young, inexperienced dudes and G-leaguers making simple, Basketball 101 reads because we're making it easy for them.

And that is why the Bucks are more than a defensive wing away from being a good defensive team. You could have the best defender in the world out there on the perimeter but if the scheme isn't good, the defense still won't be good. A team that has Giannis and Brook shouldn't be giving up points in the paint this easily.
I still think an athletic, backup defensive big is what they need since an athletic big may be able to recover quicker on these breakdowns than Lopez can.
On the other hand, if the scheme is going to remain, then I would like to see more bench scoring to win those games that become shootouts. All the Bucks have to do is score more points than their opponents whether it 150-149 or 2-0.

Is there a way I can get a twitter link to that video? It’s the best illustration of Griffin’s problems.
No new defensive acquisition could cover the ground needed to stop that play. Heck, you’ve got the best defensive free safety in the NBA (Giannis) and no way could he get over there.

The doubling of the screener has been going on for some time. But for some reason, it seems that Bobby is the only one that is consistently doubling. He also does it when there is no screener. He just doubles the ball way out on the court.
There is no way Bobby is doing that on his own. He has made a few steals doing that, but usually it doesn't end well. I have no problem hedging the screener until our defender gets over the screen (and then retreating), but that doesn't seem to be what's happening. Kind of bizarre.

They're learning a new dance routine
And they sometimes get caught in between
It's a faulty confusion
To assume the conclusion
That the defense will never be clean

Yep, and it's why the "we're 23-8" stuff is so frustrating, like we're approaching the 40% mark of the season and still doing stupid **** like this. We've been able to overcome it because of the sheer insanity of Giannis/Dame/Khris as an offensive trio + the schedule being favorable, but this type of defense is not sustainable against a tier 1 contender in a playoff series. Like a fully healthy Miami, Boston, Philly, Denver, etc is picking that apart with ease.
