Team is so uninspired. No Westbrook to blame this time.

Blowout. Good to see them take care of business. Ham with a better starting lineup, although I'm not sure if that simply was due to Reddish being injured

Btw, EPM has Austin Reaves as literally the second to worst defender in the NBA. Ouch.

I hope Wood and Christie sent the necessary **** you message to Ham tonight with how they played with their numbers finally called.

I mean Christie hasn't been good this season

Nor has Wood, but Wood has been better than Hayes

Still not a fan of this lineup

You need 2 ball handlers out there

Holy ****, I knew it wasnt great this year, but I dont think he is as bad as those numbers say

He is a smart team defender that can be a chaser and even poa vs less athletic guards

Bigger and stronger guys punish him

He needs to always play with a good shot blocker and a physically stronger backcourt defender to optimize him

I love Reaves...I saw there we rumors of a package involving Reaves and picks for Dejountey Murray. I'd do it if it works.

Christie is by far the best defender at the guard position. He's miles ahead of DLO and Reaves.

All he needs is a decent shooting and he'd be starting imo.

Not only that he's a really good rebounder for his position.

He's young and the one im most excited to see developing provided Scam actually gives him minutes.

They need to go for Murray immediately if he’s actually available and still what he used to be on defense (I haven’t watched any Hawks game this year so someone please chime in on this). Gives them elite defense while also giving them another ball handler. He’s also shooting 37.5 3PT% on over 6 3PA this year but not sure how much of that is an anomaly as well as things like off-the-dribble vs catch-and-shoot.

He’s also younger than Lavine and I’d rather the team go for an upgrade that isn’t as elite offensively but still balanced on both ends of the floor rather than being a sieve on defense. They have enough of those between DLo and Reaves. What would the Hawks want is the question?

I have no problem trading Reaves in this deal if it also nets them Capela, by the way. How about:

Austin Reaves - $12mil
Jaxson Hayes - $2mil
D’Angelo Russell - $17mil
Jalen Hood-Schifino - $4mil
2029 1st

= $45mil

Dejounte Murray - $21mil
Clint Capela - $18mil
Patrick Mills - $7mil

= $46mil

Thoughts?

Edit: meant to mention this earlier, but I also love this on paper for the Lakers’ backcourt on defense assuming Vincent comes back healthy in February/March with both him and Murray.

Just looked and realized LeBron has a decent shot at getting to 40k points this season. Just has to maintain good health. Only a little over 600 to go.

I'm not willing to trade Reaves in a Murray package. Replacing both Reaves and DLO with Murray doesn't move the needle that much.

Pass on Murray for Reaves

On RAPTOR his defense doesnt rank the same as when he was with SAS

I think the problem is, if you are trading Reaves you better get back a player or a combination of players that would make you better on offense. Swapping AR for Murray doesn't accomplish that. LA would still be a great defensive team with holes on the wings and a bottom 10 offense

I don't understand why Ham is struggling to start Davis - Rui - Christie - Reaves - LeBron until Vincent comes back and maybe takes over from Christie if Max cannot handle being the point of attack defender and make open shots. The front office invested in Rui, Reaves and Vando in the offseason and need to make a commitment to Christie in the coming summer. You got to give them as many rotation minutes as possible to judge what you have before going into the trade deadline.

You already know what you have with Prince and while Reddish is a decent revival project, he's no more than the 8 -10th guy on any decent roster.

If the goal is to win now, I'd definitely do that.

(The problem is more that I'm not convinced that this team is repairable. Even with that trade we would be no contenders and the 39 year-old Lebron+Davis combination will get worse every year. I reached the point, when I think we should blow the whole thing up and start a rebuild.)

They’d never do that because they’re not trading LeBron or AD unless those two ask for it.

Seems bad for Ham although I don't want to take definitive sides until I hear more info.
