Its like he is banking on I’m almost always either faster or bigger than the guy guarding me so I’ll just go full throttle. Almost all of his layup attempts are heavily contested or out of control which results in layup attempts that come up short or are too strong and dont even touch the rim.

He never changes up his timing or his angles to shed the defender. I don’t know if anyone else noticed but its weird to me. He could be so much better

Was watching a few of his games from a few seasons ago the other day. Christmas boredom.

Even though the stats probably suggest otherwise, swear his finishing isn’t as smart as it has been in the past.

All his 3 attempts these days are the exact same garbage too.

Don’t know why he thinks shooting 11 heavily contested 3s is the answer.

Even Steph Fkn Curry doesn’t shoot 11 contested 3s.

Every one of his 11 threes were open or wide open.

That’s **** terrible. He’s almost unstoppable at the post, or when he tries to attack the basket. He should just try to post it up everytime and limit those dribble dribble pull ups. When he does that, i’m like shouting don’t you dare take that 3 lol. Good thing at least, he seems to trust KP and White more and more.

Thought Tatum was stellar tonight.

Just shooting bad 3s.

That’s basically what i said. If he didn’t chuck that many pull up 3’s, we wouldn’t have been down big early on. He’s played great when he stopped chucking. Also, he’s the team’s best player, he must lead by example. If he constantly takes pull ups and be a ball stopper, others will follow.

He was great when he moves the ball and attacks the basket.

Tatum was 2-4 on pull up 3s in the 1st half.

It's like there are still people who haven't seen Tatum in the playoffs of 2022 and 2023.

JT should be the least of our concerns.

You do realize we played the worst team that has ever laced them up right? That was embarrassing. I give them credit for pulling out the win, but this is NOT the game to point to to use the phrase “great team”

Mark of a great team is even if you're not at your best, you still end up winning.

Best record in the NBA is an indication of being a great team.

Last season the Cs would have lost this game.

I knew we'd win but I could hardly watch. I guess there's some good in winning with the least possible effort, which is what I feel like this was.

Tough first half to watch, but promising that they didn’t give up and we were able to complete the comeback.

KP and White get the VC and CP for me.

JT was good in many ways and I get him not wanting to constantly drive hard through the 82 game grind and certainly hope jacking threes is more about preservation for the playoffs where he’ll adjust.

He’s having a pretty ordinary season (really last couple of seasons) with his three ball, but it is in some ways important that he keeps trying to get it going as it creates so much space for everything else he does if that remains a threat.

Voted JT and Jrue.
White and KP had huge games but JT played the right way, attacking the basket on many possession, had 10 assists and 4 steals.
Jrue was a masterclass on defense against Cunningham who put all-star stats and abused us in the first half.

Jayson Tatum a season high 16 rim field goal attempts. Unfortunately he was also 2/15 outside out of 5 feet

Also, I’d like to point out that Derek White had the worst box out I’ve ever seen when he let his man get an offensive rebound and send it to OT. Terrible fundamentals/effort.

Tatum's down to 34% as a three point shooter.

Great thread title!

What a weird game. We played like crap in the 1st half, while DET played well. Then 3rd quarter and beginning part of the 4th we played well and DET played like crap..then later in the 4th it was about even but DET played better..in OT we dominated and won lol..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Our "embarrassing" as this win was we can all at least agree a loss would have been muuuuuuuuuuch worse. After a sleep on it I'm just glad we avoided that part in the record books. Let it be the next team they play's problem, because the Pistons definitely don't seem like a 28 in a row loss team.

He's the best decision maker on the team by a wide, wide margin. And he's our best three point shooter. If we're going to insist on all the three point jacks in high leverage situations, can we please have White do it instead of Tatum?

To any real Boston Fan White is an absolute star. but by definition, Star implies All-star game and Go-to guy type of player. Do I need to remind people White couldn't even finish games last year. And he is at best the 4th option when Boston is fully healthy. Not saying that is right or wrong. Just pointing out that we value him much more than the typical "sports" reporters/writers around the league. And certainly more than Fans throughout.

Growing up in the 80s in NYC, there was a playground where ball players came every Saturday and Sunday. Most days the courts were packed and if you lost you went back to a long line of waiting next.. I can't count how many times my squad would go all out and beat some stacked team only to lose to 5 bums because we couldn't take them serious to start. Literally only got serious near the end of games when we thought we could just "turn on the switch" Problem is sometimes some scrub would throw up a shot or 2 and game over.

If we revisit last nights game Detroit missed the last 3 pointer for the win in regulation. Though they did get the O-rebound and put it back for the tie..

Boston really dodged a bullet last night.

If Tatum cut his pullup three attempts in half, he'd be at 61.5% TS% instead of 59.5%. Not even considering the opportunity cost of those shots that could have been layups or FTs instead or shots going to more efficient teammates.

He didn't close games last year because Joe was mostly clueless. I don't think he'd hold up as a top tier usage guy but he should have been closing games last season.

But more to the point, if it's game 7, last possession in a tied game, I would run our offense through our guys in this order:

-Porzingis
-White
-Tatum
-Jrue
-Jaylen

Jaylen may pass Jrue if the last month isn't just a mirage.
