Ty sticks with his peeps
Wow. I hope he is just trying to throw people off. Why would any coach say that about a player? Why tell opponents that they don't need to worry about a particular player on the offensive end?
How did you interpret his statement? This is pretty standard, not like you have to tell other coaches that Mann is the 5th option on the floor
they already know.
It's like asking if you would "incorporate" Grant Williams more to the offense, which would mean using him as a hub in the high post, or giving him shot creation or additional ball handling or something like that. No, these types of players are incorporated into the offense by taking open shots, setting screens, cutting, going after offensive rebounds.
It's just a waste of time for a coach to start worrying about how to incorporate their Shane Battier's into the offense.
The reality with Mann is that if this team is going to reach it's best potential he NEEDS to play well. There's no better alternative option for the role he occupies, so you keep his confidence up and keep the trust up. Shooting can come back, it does all the time. Coffey is an option, but at their best, Mann is the better defender and glue guy. Both so far are not shooting the best of course.
