Will you take Jokic or LeBron for one playoff series

Post#1 » by giordunk » Sat Dec 30, 2023 10:27 am

Suppose you have two equally talented teams that won 60 games in the regular season.

In present day, would you rather take Jokic or LeBron, for one playoff series?

I'm assuming this is prime James. I'd take LBJ, he has a larger sample size of dominating.

LeBron in most matchups, but there are some matchups where Jokic could be favoured.

Of course assuming it's peak James vs Jokic, current LeBron has no case at all.

Like the ohter respones indicate there is a pretty clear order of prime LeBron > current Jokic > current LeBron.

I’m so high on Jokic that I might take Jokic over anyone at any time of their career, including prime LeBron. Jokic is just an outrageous basketball player.

I'd take Peak LeBron over anyone in NBA History for a playoff series without knowing the matchup.

Jokic isn't really in the Top Tier of guys I would choose.

I think it wasn't clear that I asked for current Jokic vs current LeBron.

I understand Jokic is very very good but I still think that as long as LeBron is still in the NBA, there is a certain gear that LeBron can turn on. Kinda similar to no matter how washed Kobe was his final season, he still put up 60 in his last game.

Maybe for one game. Not one playoff series.
LeBron's NBA Cup MVP is more valuable than either of KD's Finals MVPs. This is the word of the Lord

I think the question at this point is what's the best team Jokic has defeated in the playoffs so far? The more very good/great teams a player has series wins over the more respect they get as playoff performers. Which I'm not saying as a way to try and diminish Jokic since I have no problem with him winning 4 titles in a row and being seen as top 7 all time in a few years if he could do something like that but just that when a guy shows they can win over and over against all sorts of teams it removes most doubt about what they can do. Even with Giannis I think there remains some doubt whether 2021 was just him getting some favorable matchups and taking full advantage.

I can't take anyone over LeBron for a playoff series.

I don’t have Jokic on the LeBron/MJ/Kareem tier

Edit- if you’re talking this year I think It’s Jokic slightly.

Jokic.

Prime is a different matter. 2020 Lebron is the best I think Jokic can reasonably be argued against

Currently Jokic for a series comfortably enough. For one game I'd be inclined to lean into Lebron though.

Currently, I'd take Jokic easily.

Peaks wise, I'd take Lebron easily.

I do think Jokic's 2023 season is arguably a top 5 peak though.

This poll basically measures how many people read the poll which way, LOL. But I’d basically say peak LeBron > current Jokic >>> current LeBron.

I’d take Jokic today over current/peak Lebron
