Grade the trade: OG to Knicks
An easy A for me.
I've been wanting Barrett for a while so I'm overly excited about this trade.
He always brings his best when playing for his country so playing for his hometown Raps is gonna maximize his potential. He's still only 23 with some untapped potential and is already a consistent 20ppg player.
Also FWIW - he's an extremely durable player and has played 70+ games each of the last 3 seasons. (OG is the opposite of durable)
Also worth noting that the "Pistons 2024 2nd is basically a late 1st (31st OA) maybe even more valuable than a late 1st considering the contract flexibility it provides a team"
In Masai We Trust

We got rid of Precious and Malachi. A+ in my books.

This is great. This may be the perfect acquisition for OG. Love that guy, but it was time.

Re: Grade the trade: OG to Knicks
I like it. Remarkably, the Raptors get younger, since RJ is just 23 and Quickley 24.

Bobby get no love for this one? I understand Masai is the one to sign off on everything but if we're going to criticize both of them, then we gotta give props to both of them.

Re: Grade the trade: OG to Knicks
Quickley about to be the next Maxey imo. That is a great get for OG and scottie gets a running mate. Plus getting a second consistent role player in the deal is big, RJ could be a really good 6th man type guy if we don’t make other moves.

I now understand why Masai was patient. This is infinitely better than three late FRPs.
Well done, great haul.

Re: Grade the trade: OG to Knicks
I would say A- ....would bump it up if they got a 1st round pick....but the Pistons 2nd rnd is pretty much a late 1st round pick.

The FO just saved the season.
Even if we still suck, at least we have some youth with untapped potential to look forward to.

Re: Grade the trade: OG to Knicks
Shows Masai may never do a true rebuild. But he may go a lot younger. Not what I would do but for a UFA, the value received is solid. At least he squeezed out a pick which was the shocking part.
IQ WANTS to be starting PG. He's RFA, so dump Schroder.
RJ might frustrate some fans, needs to improve offhand and especially in between game like floaters, baseline jumper. Really needs to emulate Butler style.
