Whats everyone's picks for 2024? I'm currently being stubborn with just holding IWM, S&P, PLTR, and DKNGs but have fallen out of the habit of researching so I'm sure there's some beaten down gems, or up and comers, that I'm missing out on.
Inadequate perception I reckon it's from the Valium

Re: OT: Investing/Stocks/Bonds/Mutual Funds/Crypto
I've just stayed the course the last couple of years. Max out 401k and Roth always. For non retirement I've been mostly in index funds and cash. It's been nice getting ~5% on cash but that will start going down next year so I'll definitely be moving some cash back to the market. I'm not sure where yet. I still have some crypto, but I won't be adding to it.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Mrs. Finn & I made about 9.5% on our investments this year (401k's & low/no load mutual funds only). No complaints.

The timing is difficult. I have a CD maturing this month that was 5% for 11 months and they are currently offering 5.4% for 14 months if I roll it over but I could see that sitting better in index funds assuming they start cutting rates this summer in which I'd expect double-ish in return.

My cash is in high yield savings but I'm considering sliding some of that into CDs to lock in a rate. But you're right, there may be better options. I think future rate cuts have already been baked into the market but once they actually start happening I can see some acceleration.

Re: OT: Investing/Stocks/Bonds/Mutual Funds/Crypto
Been really getting into trading this year and reading about stocks and all the background data, charts, reports, earnings, etc. Taking a more detailed class at Madison College starting in a couple weeks. I'm hoping to do this as my side hustle by the time we hit 2025.
Seems to be an interesting 2024. The Magnificent 7 seem like they need to hit a ceiling eventually, and maybe not drop a ton but not continue to the rise we have seen recently. Really trying to unearth some small cap gems this year if possible. Still looking to keep hitting PLTR until it hits $20 as it sounds like joining the S & P 500 late 2024/early 2025 is possible.

Also, I really wish I would have put more $$ into CRWD because that stock has gone bananas.

Re: OT: Investing/Stocks/Bonds/Mutual Funds/Crypto
Bitcoin ETF's were approved today, there are 11 of them from the start. A bit of a "price war" on expenses for now.
Still much higher than say Vanguard's S&P 500 ETF (0.03% expense)
BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) will waive a portion of its annual fee and charge 0.2% for the first $5 billion of assets over the first 12 months. (Otherwise, it would be 0.3%), according to its amended registration filing, known as an S-1, Monday. (I would never invest where there is an annual fee).
ARK 21Shares will charge 0% for the first six months, or until reaching $1 billion in assets, but its normal expense ratio will be 0.25%.
Fidelity is charging 0.39%.
Zoom in: With ARK's disclosure Monday, Invesco/Galaxy's previously published deal of 0% for the first $5 billion for six months versus its regular 0.59%, has competition.
Yes, but: In terms of normal fees, Bitwise's ETF sports the lowest of the bunch, or 0.24%.

Running more today but I'm tempted to take my profits and watch for a pullback which this stock loves to do. Still love it for long term.

Do you guys try prop firms? I just passed my Apex static evaluation and am funded 100k.. can't let it get below 99,435 and needs to be above 102, 600 before I can request payouts. The eval was to get 2k profit in a min of 7 days..

I dabble in crypto. Bought 1 Bitcoin at 18k. It's over 60k now. Not selling until it's worth 1 billion.
