Completely hooked on Against the Storm.

I'm so bad at it. Mid/End game completely wrecks me

Maybe if his name was Denise instead of Dennis.

Been looking to download this, whats the core gameplay ?

If you like medieval battle sims (kind of a cross between Total War and Chivalry) then you'll probably like this one. The huge scale battles and sieges are fun as hell. It's the bread and butter of the game obviously. I'd warn anyone that the actual RPG elements are incredibly basic though. Full character customization is great, but the "quests" aren't really worth it past the early game, and there's nothing really to do in the cities/towns themselves outside of trading and doing arena tournaments (though I haven't done any of the bandit/street gangs stuff).

Watched a video or two about this game and my god, there seems to be sooo many numbers/things going on.

Is it overwhelming?

I found it to be pretty easy to understand actually. They do a really good job of introducing you step by step. It didn’t totally click for me personally, but it’s definitely a great game if you like that gameplay loop.

It is a bit overwhelming, in the same way that Civilization or any other game with lots of overlapping mechanics can be overwhelming.

It's this wonderful blend of city builder-RTS-Rogue-Like that just scratches an itch I never knew I had.

This guy has some really good explanatory videos that I've been slowly going through while playing and trying to learn: https://www.youtube.com/@RonEmpire

This POE league is absolutely cracked. I've got maybe 30-40 divines right now and am considering farming for a mageblood for the first time.

Is it worth it to enter those portals while in the early acts or no?

You can absolutely ignore them. However, if you don't mind wasting some time, the ascendency that gives you increased movement speed and/or increased all res for not socketing gems is great for speeding up leveling. You'll want to spec out of it into another one when you hit maps (since you'll need the sockets). I think that's more interesting or important for vets who have done the campaign 300 times, but can be fun nonetheless.

I wasn’t planning on picking up much, but I did end up grabbing Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove and the Dead Space remake. I refunded Shovel Knight years ago, just wasn’t the right time or vibe, but love it now. Kind of a weird blend of Mario, Mega Man, and Zelda. It hit the spot at a time when I was thinking of picking up Super Mario Bros. Wonder for triple the cost.

Great collection but also worth noting that Super Mario Wonder is incredible and is worth the cost.

Finally getting the hang of the balance needed for Against the Storm. What a fun ass game.

I hate how much of a goddamn racket controllers are, especially if you're a PS5 player. Both Dualsense controllers have been **** for a while with drift and general glitchiness. Sony won't repair them. If you want to replace them with another Dualsense that is going to eventually go to **** within a year it's $70. If you want a 3rd party controller that promises to fix draft you can go that route, but none will have haptic feedback.

The Sony version that promises no drift is $200. Complete joke.

Downloaded Remnant 2 last night after seeing it on gamepass and it's kind of a banger.

Lol funny timing, I literally just ordered another Dualsense controller yesterday because both of mine are messed up too and Sony apparently won’t respond for weeks until you give up and buy a new one. The fact that my PS4 controller from like 10 years ago and my Xbox 360 controller from like 15 years ago is still working but both my Dualsense controllers are falling apart within a couple years is so **** stupid.

For sure. It’s on my short list of games to get, but need to complete some other stuff first.

One of the best games of the year IMO.
