oh snap

Just to go down that rabbit hole... if we move Randle and say Fournier for a max-player then who exactly are we getting back? Who is definitively better than Randle?
Embiid - he seems happy
Jokic - must be joking
Giannis - he is busy about to try to win the East with his new BFF
Tatum/Brown - best team in the League
LeBron - LeBron will finish his career a Knick for sure at age 50 with no knees.
AD - Currently balling for the LAkers
KD - Slip Reaper fixing his mistake? But who is going to get our boards?
Zion - too fat, bad fit, and we traded his BFF
Booker - face of the Suns
Curry - not leaving
Towns - too busy having one of his best seasons
Spida - But where does Randle go?
AntMan - not going anywhere.

Did I miss any stars that are Julius level or above?
Basically the list devolves to Durant and Spida (in a 3-team).
Next year will be a new dice roll, but the horizons are not looking great.

Other targets that I think are highly improbable:

PG13/Leonard - LAC is improving and they are happy in LA.
Shai - He is balling in the powerful OKC and he is locked for many years.
Haliburton: He is the man in the Pacers and he is locked for many years.

I would not discard Zion and Curry.

Zion - He is not happy in NO and could ask for a trade. I don't think the RJ trade would kill any Zion deal. Zion would be a bad fit with RJ anyway. However, he is still a bad fit with Mitch and is injury-prone. It's a risky move but I think it's possible.

Curry - GSW looks done. I think Klay and Dray can be traded if they receive good offers. Curry should decide what he wants in his final years. Stay put in his team and help rebuild or keep fighting for titles elsewhere. Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers left on similar scenarios. He also would not be an ideal Brunson partner but I can see the Knicks risking it.
BAF Brooklyn - Pre-Season NBA 2K Simulation 2023 Champions.

Rozier leading the bench unit I would LOVE. That’s the trade I want … Fournier and a couple firsts

it doesn't make sense... there's really no one in the top 20 thats available. Unless we are waiting for Mitchell.

The ship has sailed... Donovon, Dame Lillard, Halliburton, Sabonis, Kyrie, KD were the big names in the past 18 months that were traded. Every team is pretty much in a good place. The teams that are descending, the stars on those teams have big question marks.

Having Lauri Mark or Kuzma instead of Julius Randle would be another huge step forward for the Knicks.
Both are younger, bigger and better defenders than Jules.
Our PF and SF position would be fluid with either of them playing next to OG.
...and Kuzma is CAA.

I think pretty good. No secret the Knicks want to make another trade and he’d surely be a part of that for salary matching

But if a deal doesn’t arise I don’t think Leon will get desperate and force it either, so he could just finish out the season.

If he is not traded, be will be bought out.

Doesn’t he have a team option next year? I wouldn’t be shocked if they picked it up and kick that 18 million dollar salary down the road one more season. Especially if no one worth trading for is available at the deadline.

Don't see a Curry move any time soon. Not during the season and in the offseason there may be some other teams (BKN) in a better position to help him reprise his splash days. Don't see him being a Thibs guy.

Yea, I doubt we trade Randle.

For the mysterious never-to-be named superstar we are supposed to get sometime this decade. :noway:

We are going to get "Roster Player" #99 from NBA Live '98

Spoiler:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NBA_Live_98
Though it is set during the 1997–98 season, Chicago Bulls superstar Michael Jordan is not featured in the game.[6] This was because Jordan was not part of the National Basketball Players Association and at the time the cost of licensing his individual name and likeness for video games was approximately $15 million a year, beyond the total budget of most video games.[7] Jordan is replaced by the fictional "Roster Player" in the Bulls lineup. However, Charles Barkley made his first appearance in Live 98 as a member of the Houston Rockets.

IDK about that. WE just extended McBride meaning we have expectations for him to jump into a role. Brunson, McBride, DDV and Murray is A LOT of little guards.

I think Bridges is realistic. Murray would be a good fit in BKN or even CLE in a bigger deal. It all begs the question though of what would ATL be looking for other than cap space and picks. Fournier + 2 picks (say NY 24, MIL '25) and even DET/WAS thrown in if need be to ATL, Murray + NY '26, Dal '24 to BKN and Bridges to NY.

That's all a stretch, but Bridges and/or a center should be our targets.

Would love Bridges...but why would the Nets help us?
BTW.... Murray isnt small..dude is 6'5" with a 6'10" wingspan.

What about Randle and Hartenstein for Tobias Harris and Paul Reed and two pick swaps…?

Then Grimes for Murray….
