Maybe sirianni isn’t the main issue but there’s definitely some issues on that coaching staff in my opinion
I personally think that sloppiness is a head coaching issue.
I think offense and defense are moreso staffing but my thing with that is Nick doesn’t call plays
So is it going to be a toss up everytime we lose an OC? And his defensive hiring/philosophy is also not something I’ve been given confidence in. I mean Gannon was ok, desai seemed ok, and Patricia is whatever
But I have yet to be wowed by a defensive hire. I mean look at the guy harbaugh hired in baltimore in mike Macdonald
We have yet to see nick hire a guy of that caliber. Nick has his positives, and i like those positives. But in 2021 the eagles were sloppy and penalty filled, 2022 they were better but there’s still aspects of the Super Bowl that irk men then 2023 where everything’s sloppy, mistake filled, and his hirings were disastrous
Either desai was a great hire and Nick jumped the gun and didn’t read the issue correctly and fired him. Or the hire was disastrous enough to fire him mid season whilst holding the #2 seed in the conference at the time.
Stuff like that concerns the hell out of me. His relationships with his players less so. That’s something he’s always seemed good at
I have no clue what’s going on but it is something to do with coaching for sure in my opinion. As the head coach, sirianni for sure shares some of the blame no doubt about it but I don’t know if he should get the majority of the blame or not. Yeah, I agree so far these last couple hires are looking suspect but here’s something to consider. We know Lurie and howie wanted Doug hiring specific types of coaches outside of the organization, maybe they aggressively encouraged sirianni to do the same? As a young coach that doesn’t have a ton of experience anyway, it might be difficult for him to find some good candidates. I wouldn’t be surprised if management wanted BJ to get the OC because of his ties to Jalen hurts and then said they wanted sirianni to hire somebody outside the organization on defense when in reality, dennard wilson might’ve actually been the best choice. Desai doesn’t look like a great choice as of right now, but if sirianni wasn’t allowed to give the job to dennard is that sirianni’s fault?
