My first thought seeing that headline too

The Los Angeles Lakers dropped below .500 on the season, following a home loss to the Miami Heat on Wednesday. That's the least of the Lakers problems, as there is a growing disconnect between head coach Darvin Ham and his players, sources told The Athletic.

Six sources said the disconnect is driven by Ham's regular starting lineup and rotation adjustments. That's led to the Lakers having struggles finding a rhythm.

Darvin? I'm not convinced. Good assistants don't automatically make good HC's. As we've seen with AG. Some assistants should remain assistants, as is the case in most sports. If he flames out in less than 2 years in LA I don't necessarily think he's the answer here. And it's not simply "well he has to deal with LeBron". Some of his decisions have been questionable at best. Give me someone with HC success.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Why not bring him in as Associate HC like Terry?

His "questionable decisions" look like decisions that would work here atm. "Bigger starting lineup". IE. start Dame with a defensive backcourt mate.

Then if you can Griff, which seems likely by years end if the pattern continues, he's on a prove it interim basis.

That's where I'm at. He's 66. He'd come back for HC gig I'd presume, one last legit chance at a ring.

We've been told, if he still has his place leased.

Would take Darvin in a second but that obviously wouldn't happen until the offseason. Him taking the fall for the Lakers being mediocre would be funny and predictable. Classic "Coach-Killer" Lebron making another appearance at the first sign of adversity.

I'm not sold on Darvin but I do have to point out that their roster is an absolute mess. I've heard some talk about the high quality of their players, and I just have to point out the following things:

1) Austin Reaves is solid but massively overrated and was a national embarrassment defensively in the WC.
2) Cam Reddish is bad, and having the best season of his career.
3) Rui Hachimura is bad, and having the best season of his career.
4) D'Angelo Russel is ok for the first time in a long time.
5) LeBron James is THIRTY NINE.
6) Christian Wood is pissing in the water supply.

The wonder isn't that they're mediocre, it's that anybody expected them to be good. All things considered, 17-18 is probably about as good as anybody should have expected.

Coach trade, Grief for Ham. Probably close to working for both teams after a couple of more stinkers.

I haven't seen anything to indicate Darvin is a good head coach, but I'd still trust him to have this team doing less braindead **** defensively than Griffin. My preference would still be Stotts, though I doubt he'd want to come back to this situation.

Horst should’ve vetted that situation out more. Did stotts leave his salary on the table or are we still paying him? If we still paying him I’m firing Griff and getting stotts back ASAP

Does Pat for PJ straight up work? If so, get on the Horn Horst. Pat won a chip and can still do his real estate dealings and have love in the city. We want more chips and feel good guys get sacrificed for those rings

Love this. "Hey Terry, know how we're paying you a coaching salary? Yeah come in Monday for work, mate. The big office is yours"

We have plenty of talent for the talent to take over and get us all the way through. Also, we are coasting on talent offensively and totally incoherent defensively most of the time, and that proportion is not shrinking. We started out the season bad, then everybody got diarrhea and we were really bad, and then we went back to just normal bad.

There was a time when we thought we were worse than we are because everybody had diarrhea, and there was a time after that when we thought we were figuring things out, but it was really just that we didn't all have diarrhea anymore.

When you're driving in the lane and you feel a stomach pain, diarrhea!

When you're missing every three cause it's more than just pee, diarrhea!

When you lose the game ball and can't find an empty stall, diarrhea!

When you try to trap and you whiff, because your coach is Griff, diarrhea!

You can’t cut bait with Griff only to hire another unproven former AC in Ham. Surest way to get fired if you’re Horst if Ham sucks too.

It has to be a proven coach if Griff goes. You admit defeat on the out of the box hire and go for someone more solid and proven like Stotts. Ironically we already had that guy last year.

But let’s be real, Griff is here for at least the rest of the year. Despite the farce of those Pacers games we're still going well enough for the FO to see this out for this year at least.

There’s too much talent in the squad the fail in the reg season. We got Griff because Bud’s rigid ways in the Playoffs led to some embarrassingly early exits.

Griff will be judged on how far we make it in the Playoffs. If we have another shambolic exit where he’s clearly out-coached, then it’s on the table that he gets punted (especially if Dame and Giannis make waves) but until then, short of a full on player revolt, Griff is here this year.

As bad as it looks right now and was last night. If you take out Indiana games the Bucks are 23-6, which would be the best record in the NBA. That's the problem in all this, they've had a cake schedule they've barely scraped by, they look like trash in all schematic, preparation, etc type aspects on both O and D. But they've still won so many games there's no way they can fire.

That said, after these 3 'easy' games the schedule gets legit. 4 really tough ones, including Boston coming up. Also have to play Cle 3 times in a short period of time, good team and have the G type players to torch them similar to what Indy does, especially if Garland is back by then. The winning could start coming to and end really quickly where there could at least be a discussion and a possibility for a coaching change. Though of course I still massively doubt it. They'll find a way to outtalent there way to enough wins in those games to get by.

The season doesn't start until we play Boston.
