OG last year obviously had more value. The push for the play in instead of trading our core guys was a mistake. With that being said I’m just glad we got IQ eventually.

If that did happen, then you would be out of luck on the 2024 Raptors FRP - If Masai had done the right thing trading OG last season, he wouldn't have paid 2024 Raptors FRP for Purtle.

The Wizards pick
2024 protection: Top-12.
if Washington’s 2024 pick doesn’t convey to New York, it becomes top-10 protected in 2025, then top-8 protected in 2026.
If it doesn’t convey by 2026, it becomes two second-round picks.

The Pistons picks
2024 protection: Top-18.
If it doesn’t convey in 2024, it becomes top-13 protected in 2025, then top-11 protected in 2026, then top-9 protected in 2027.
If it doesn’t convey by 2027, it becomes a second-round pick.

If I had to guess, they were probably offering the Wizards and Pistons FRPs.

He knows that at the deadline, OR prior? That's not knowing. That's guessing.
"I think more than one first" is know knowing. That's guessing.

I'm assuming the offer, IF this is indeed true, would've been IQ/Fourner/2 mid-late 1sts (that may never convey).
Although Rj is getting paid and underperformed historically, I think I'd rather have a top 3 pick talent than the mystery box of an outright bad contract plus 2 picks that are most likely to be mid-late and without an actual timeline.

It's the same as preferring the package we DID get, to the Pacers package of 3 1sts in this past draft, which basically turned out to be Coulibaly at 7, Ben Sheppard at 26 and Julian Strawther at 29. That's what you can get from trading for 3 1st round picks that are protected in the way the Knicks picks are protected.
