Pretty hyped for this guy. Glad we did not trade OG for the first offer we got and waited out for a trade like this.

RJ isn't an add-on, he's a very bad contract that we had to take on to get Quickley.
He's not a bad player or a bad contract. Poeltl got 20M and Barrett is also a starting level player with age on his side. 28M isn't a bad contract in the current NBA landscape.
For me RJ is a bench level player tbh. He only got starting minutes thanks to draft position and contract. Darko already has him on the bench in closing time in favor of Schroder, and Schroder's barely starter material himself.
I agree that RJ isn't an asset at this time with that contract vs. his current skill. However, if he decides to play team ball as he showed many times last tonight, he could become one over time. I really liked what he brought last night in terms of effort, extra pass, driving to shift the defense + taking what the defense gives him (pass or layup).

felt like they were operating on how they were 'supposed' to guard the Raptors. But that iteration of the Raptors doesn't really exist anymore. Teams should begin to adjust.

Once they start running him off the three point line, it will open up looks for everyone else. It's been a long while since we had someone deadly from 3 that teams will need to run off the line. Unlike other shooters, he can actually attack the basket with a decent dribble. Exciting times ahead!

Re: Official Immanuel Quickley Thread
RJ was viewed as neutral value around the league, not negative. So far I think he’s been positive for us in 2 games. Obviously excited about Quickley though, Ja and Smart is a tough matchup and he more then held his own.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars
Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid
There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Especially since we don't need cap space. As long as we're under the tax, and we should be if we trade Siakam, then RJ's contract is irrelevant for the time being.
Trading Siakam to fit RJ's contract is insane btw.

RJ is a big guy who can get you rebounds and finish with strength down low. he's no pushover.
He just needs to stop trying to be the guy and play to his strengths. He has 3 guys ahead of him, so its time he start picking his spots

We're trading Siakam to get younger. It has nothing to do with RJ. A young team like ours should not be maxing out a 30 year-old Siakam.

Hopefully his demeaner rubs off on Scottie, who's starting to spend a bunch of time arguing with the refs like Luka.

Its wild how this concept seems controversal to people. It's like people are determined to turn us into the Brad Beal-Wizards: a capped-out play-in/fringe playoff team.

Scottie needs to argue. The refs barely ever call fouls against him.
He also needs to flop, flail, and yell more to sell the contact.
