His numbers are better than Melo

There are seval factors :
- Melo as sophmore was 20, Paolo is 21
- in 2003-04, Melo was 12th best scorer by PPG , Poalo isn't even in top 30 today
- despite Melo's eFG looking ugly, given context of time, he was still closer to league's average than Paolo is today to today's league average

I think there are lot of similarities, but most people view Melo now as "negative comp", ignoring he is one of guys who scored 28+ K points, was allstar 12 times and is HOF (soon to be).

In his second year he was best player on 49-33 team.
In his 3rd year, at age of 21, he was 8th best scorer (within 1 point of top 5), and probably was top 10-ish best player in a league.

I don't know what Paolo is, but he seems to be some cross between Melo, Boozer, Randle with clear Lebron's influence.

True. Except the scoring thing blew up in today's NBA era wherein Melo was still in the after-effects of the grind it out 90s scoreboard.

There was an article about Suggs where he mentioned that drafting two guards put him on notice and helped him realize he couldn't take things for granted. You can see the effort to maintain/build relevancy with his media availability, he's been doing every interview and podcast it seems. Also, he's working hard to minimize games missed due to injury. Rooting for him.

I wasn't a big fan of our back court last year and hindsight being 20/20 I am less of a fan of it every passing day.

Suggs this year has been a starting caliber guard. I would feel comfortable putting him ahead of healthy Fultz / G. Harris / Cole vs any lineup we had last year if he was healthy enough to start.

I do not like the idea of him playing injured.

imagne what a younger version of ingles would do for this team. A 36 year old slow mofo has THAT much gravity for our 2nd unit.

I can't even think of a younger replacement for him. Such a unique skillset at his size. Maybe Giddey with an improved shot (he is up to 36.5% from deep this year)... but Joe came in as a good shooter.

He's like a shorter, stubbier, less Athletic Turk. So in essence, hes nothing like Turk even though he semi reminds me of him

So the Magic is in their annual loss slide. What is interesting is that is it mutated (?blunted?) relative to past years.

after his injury last night, I'm pretty sure it'd be best to keep Gary out for the rest of the season. Let the man heal.

when you've got quite a bit of injury prone players it somewhat makes sense that you see an annual downswing. However it's crazy that it seems to be at the same time every year.

Got to ride it out and keep as many players healthy as possible. Also time to strongly consider down sizing positions.

Yeah Giddey is the closest comp, sans the knockdown shooting. Black might grow into that profile in time. Dyson Daniels is a similarly raw comp. Hawks Jalen Johnson has really come into his game this season. Lonzo would be a guard and defensive version of Ingles if he can get healthy.

Paolo and Franz have all the skills required to be Ingles +, they just gotta learn to run an offense like him.

Olynyk might be able to bring some of the playmaking and shooting from the C spot off the bench, but I don’t think you could play him and Moe Wags together.

Isaac Bonga is playing in Europe now but he can throw a dime and was part of that German world championship team. Maybe he’s ready to rejoin the NBA and make a comeback like Exum has?

The first round of all-star voting is in, and Paolo is still stuck just behind Kyle Kuzma.

That's a real hit to the pride!

I'm curious what starting lineup you roll with in these circumstances. Goga, Paolo, and Suggs are locks. I feel like you need a second option and would start Cole at PG. Then you probably want shooting, so Houstan.

Cole/Black
Suggs/Queen
Houstan/Okeke
Paolo
Goga/Moe

Something like that? We are so injury prone
