Addressing the Bench
I like the starting lineup but our bench is absolute trash with Temple, Boucher, McDaniels, Young, Dick, Porter and Trent. This is going to cost us A LOT of games unless Masai makes more moves.
I’d be curious to know what mid to lower level players would fit this team if we were to clear the bench, so to speak.

Re: Addressing the Bench
Our bench at the moment consists of Schroder, Trent and Boucher. Three good role players.
Jontay Porter also looked solid against the Grizzlies.
The bench has definitely been improved. A potential Siakam trade would also add another solid bench piece (or two) and there's also the buyout market.

Re: Addressing the Bench
The bench has been depleted, and that is a good thing. We need more of that. Early eye assessment of Porter are that he has fluidity and skills. Before his numerous injuries he was a touted young player. You can see that. I was shocked to see he has size. We typically don't bring size into our program. It's been a long string of undersized players we've looked at in recent years.

I'm hoping they can turn gradey into a useful player. Then it becomes Schroder, gradey, Trent, boucher, porter and I honestly don't mind it.
I don't think they have really defined roles enough for my liking. I think the coaching staff just needs to tell dick, shoot the fjcking ball. That's it. Stop putting the ball on yhe floor, any time you're open shoot, if you pumpfake, sidestep and jack it up.if they can get him to just limit his tole to doing that, and he's able to connect like he was touted to, then I think he will be a useful piece for us. Unfortunately I think his confidence is shot and they haven't given him a clear dire tion for his role.
Also, siakam for 2 role players off the bench doesn't help us.
Again siakan is not Rudy gay. He's actually an efficient scorer that draws gravity for the team. Only way I'm trading him is for an og like return. I mean talent wise quickley and anunoby are essentially a wash, and then there's rj who is a solid enough player currently. Thays the kind of return In expecting for siakam not a bunch of role players with potential.

I never said that's all we'd be getting for Siakam lol.
I'm suggesting we'd likely get back an expiring/role players as throw-ins to make a trade work financially.
For example, if we deal with the Pacers - they'd have to attach Hield who could come off the bench for us.

Re: Addressing the Bench
It's better than what we've had. The ability to shift Dennis to the second unit without sacrificing guard play with the starters has been a god send. We've been dying for a real play maker off the bench and he has thrived in that role thus far.
We are still overplaying our starters and its not like we're running 5 man bench line-ups.

I would argue that Quickley is way more talented than OG. Both of them will flirt with 40% from 3 but Quickley has an (advanced) offensive game off the dribble and OG does not. It's not even close on that side of the ball.
Defensively I'd give OG the nod but that comes from the versatility afforded by his size. Quickley is only 6'3" but with his athleticism and 6'8" wingspan he has shown he can be a very high level defender. I wouldn't be surprised if makes All-Defense at some point.
It's crazy that with one trade we improved our roster to where we have Trent and Boucher at the end of the rotation instead of Flynn and Precious.
We can probably improve the bench without moving Pascal tbh.

I wonder if there's any teams thst have a shooter that are willing to do a salary dump where we vsn just unload our end of the bench trash like McDaniels, porter, thad.StopitLeo wrote:Boogie! wrote:LoveMyRaps wrote:Our bench at the moment consists of Schroder, Trent and Boucher. I'm more curious why you listed Temple first.

Since we got 2 for 1 in the OG trade I'd argue our depth is better now than it was a week ago.

Re: Addressing the Bench
Seems to me we need to either trade or re-sign Siakam before we do anything drastic with the bench. If he gets moved, presumably there are pieces coming back that could help solve that problem.
I'm not in favour of sending picks outbound right now to shore up the bench, and outside of that, feels like the options for improving the bench are somewhat limited. Maybe Thad's expiring can get us something, but it doesn't seem promising.
At this very moment, I would be kicking the tires on Jontay and JFL to see if they can contribute.

And not listing Schroder, who has proven himself one of the better 6th man in the league.

Really hard to think of one. Maybe if Dallas all of a sudden wants to dump Tim Hardaway, or Detroit with Bojan. Portland has Jerami Grant with a contract 27 mil going to 36 in 2027. And he's 29 but no real reason to just dump him.
