I really hope we start those discussions at some point though, he’d be a huge boost

24.1 3.8 7.1 good lord he’s putting up allstar numbers this year. We damn sure better start discussions soon. He’s a prime target for us.

He’s a Wade Stan too, he grew up idolizing him

That's dope. I'm running different trade checker scenarios and looking at how it effects our cap this year and next and we have many avenues of getting something done here.

Rozier

23.2

for

Lowry

29.6

Total Savings- 6.4 million

Picks will be required in this deal.

2023-24 Luxury Tax Totals
Denotes the Heat current standing in terms of the luxury tax threshold. Teams that spend over the threshold pay fines (estimated below).
TYPE TOTALS
2023 NBA Luxury Tax Threshold $165,294,000
Total Taxable Salaries $180,265,160
Current Luxury Tax Space $-14,971,160
Est. Luxury Tax Bill $28,677,903

Deducting Rozier's 6.4 million from the current luxury tax gets them down to 8.3 million and would lower the bill from 28.6 to something more like 16.3. Talking about close to a 12 million dollar shave and improving the PG spot drastically. Micky would be highly interested in this deal and also giving up the pick compensation.

We traded (2) FRP’s for Dragic during his age 28/29 year. Rozier in his age 29 year is vastly outperforming Dragic’s numbers at the time we made the trade for him.

Rozier used to have some dog in him defensively too. Think that’s gone by the wayside in Charlotte, but I guess there’s a hope playing in a more competitive team would rekindle that spark.

Spo for sure will get the most out of him defensively. The situation would change completely here for him. Rozier is worth the Dragic price.

This was the most recent comparable PG trade. Holiday in his age 33 year still fetched (2) FRP’s.

Oct. 1: Celtics add Holiday in trade with Blazers

Boston Celtics get:
G Jrue Holiday

Portland Trail Blazers get:
C Robert Williams III
G Malcolm Brogdon
2024 first round pick (via Warriors)
2029 unprotected first-round pick

So what’s the offer? Lowry and 2 protected firsts?

One of them might have to be unprotected considering that the Hornets would be eating money. Similar to the Holiday deal which Portland got a 2029 unprotected. We can offer 2028 top 20 protected and 2030 unprotected.

I’d give Lowry and two firsts for Rozier or Sexton

I think that’s what we are building up towards. It’s fair compensation that gives us a chance at getting Lowry’s replacement now and for the future. We would still be making picks in two out of the next 3 years in the draft. 2024 and in either 2025 or 2026 based on OKC protections.

2 1sts seems steep to me but I’ll guess we’ll see if conversations start. Massive cap relief for them with the deal has to count for something at least

It’s not steep at all considering the main player we are trading is 38 year old Lowry’s expiring deal. Holiday at age 33 was dealt for Brogdon(very good player) Damaged goods Lord, and 2 1st.

Maybe we can get someone useful thrown in. I wonder if Caron has any insight on Bouknight. Has been a total bust since he got to the NBA, but who knows, he could use some culture.

Lowry/Caleb/FRP for Rozier and PJ?

Check out the poo poo platter with 2 1st we traded for Dragic

Miami sent two first-round picks -- one that will be used in either 2017, 2018 or 2019, the other in 2021 -- to the Suns, who also get Danny Granger from the Heat. Also leaving Miami are guard Norris Cole, forward Shawne Williams and center Justin Hamilton, all headed to the Pelicans.

Thaddeus Young rotting on Raptors bench, even at 35, I think he could give some good mins

We need some great buyouts at the 4 and 5 to finish our fantasy pickups

Let me just remind you all that iv'e been the captain on the Rozier bandwagon for along minute now, In fact I might suggested dumping Lowry after the first game of the season. The hate was strong.

1. I think Terry has another level in him. He might step up on a better team, Hornets are a mess.

2. He's young enough to be here a while, so it's not only upgrading our biggest weakness for this year (PG), it also solves our PG issues going forward. The simple fact is there aren't any better PG that are attainable now or expected to be in the near future.

Jimmy
Bam
Herro
Terry
Duncan

Everyone else should be small salaries, luckily JJJ and Jovic are locked in, Love is cheap, and Cain looks useful.

If Martin and Highsmith want to get paid - you let them walk.

The expensive core 5 will have to be surrounded by vet mins and our growing stud rookies. I can live with that if it means having legit starting talent in every position including a PG that fits and isn't old.

Rozier finally gives them a PG that can get into the lane at will in a long time and is a plus athlete from that spot, the Heat should have been going after him or Murray from ATL instead of Lillard.

I like the Rozier angle, its the type of PG than can produce and force a collapse in the paint, a lineup of Rozier, Herro, Jimmy, JJJ, Bam would do amazing things on offense.
