You can't run a pick and roll with two 6'10" wings against modern defense. Teams will switch it instantly. The only benefit is to put a smaller player on Banchero.

Or, oh by the way, a lot of teams only have one strong wing defender. Wow, isn't it nice having two big wings with overlapping skillsets?

I think this ideal of perfect rhythmic harmony is misguided. We're already far ahead of the game in terms of roster construction by finding two young 6'10" wings that generate offense. Each of them can receive passes and take 3PT shots like anyone else. It's the other three guys that need to harmonize with the two of them, not the two of them with each other.

TRUTH...honestly building a modern team in the lab would look just like this...The remaining pieces are so much simpler when you start with two oversized mobile multi-skilled guys...we've got em. Centers don't mean as much (other than generational guys like Jokic & Embiid) - you just need rim protection, switchable D, and lob threats...any more than that is gravy. You need a backcourt ball handler who doesn't necessarily have to be Kyrie (if you've got those forwards) - and then floor spacers. Everyone in the NBA can make 3's. You need legit "death from above" reliable threats that you can count on every night. There are lots of them out there. Simple one-tool snipers are getting abused and targeted now. Ideally, they have at least another solid skill...defense, ballhandling & creation, explosive rim pressure...but floor-spacing changes everything when you're fortunate enough to build off of two great forwards...it's far and away, imo, the most valuable kind of player right now. Most teams are desperately searching for one.

ORL got two golden tickets...they just need to get serious about shaking things up to support them instead of clinging to decent players and picks and prospects that are good but not ideal for Paolo & Franz.

Are people really saying trade Franz? lol. That is ridiculous.

Unfortunately there are people who think this should happen apparently so I’ll go with the obvious correct answer. Delirium or just moronic stupidity. Some things need to be said. I’ll take the hit.

Down 2 starters, another starter is just coming back from injury off the bench and not close to 100% (WCJ), and Suggs is also not 100% as well

Paolo also leaves the game after rolling his ankle, later coming back and the team immediately goes on a big run.

He puts up 43/4/5 on 13/25 shooting, 6/9 from 3, & 11/14 from the line

Makes a clutch 3 in regulation with 15 sec left that helped us force overtime, made all his clutch FTs

Made a clutch basket again at the end of OT to force 2OT

He scored 18 straight points in the 4th & OT. Amazing

I don't really think there's a question about it, this will be a moment all Magic fans recognize as Paolo taking another step towards legitimate stardom.

Agreed, the Magic need to get serious and realize that we have our major piece. We need to get guys who compliment Paolo asap.

Franz may not even be the best fit next to Paolo, trading Franz could net a ridiculous return.

AG had two 40+ point games in 2017:
- vs Nets he had 41/14/2 game shooting 5/5 for 3PT
- vs Thunder he had 40/15/4 with 3 steals and shooting 6/12 for 3PT.

https://www.statmuse.com/nba/ask/40-point-games-of-aaron-gordons-career

Oladipo 45 points vs eventual champions that year, Heat (16-22 FG, 6/7 for 3), 5 rebounds, 4 assists , 3 steals, 2 blocks

Vuc 43-19- 4 against Bulls

Vuc 42-9-4 vs Kings

AG's games against Nets you mentioned

Aaron Afflalo 43 points , 5 rebounds 4 assists ( also x2OT Loss )

There have been plenty of crazy good individual games by Magic players in past. Hell ,last year Franz had 34 points on 15 shots game witch is just mindblowing (12-15 FG, 32 min) . Franz also had 38 points game as a rookie against Bucks, as defending champions on 12-20 FG, 7 rebounds, 3 assist.

But most of us simply forget about those things because season is so damn looooooooooooooooooooong.

True. Each of them need to develop some kind of repeatable 2-man action with another player who’s either setting them up or they’re setting up. If they’re gonna be point-forwards they need to know how to work the guys around them or be off the ball more and learn how to be worked.

I think the both of them are focused on becoming go-to scorers this season more than point-forwards - which is fine, because they need to develop that part of their game as well.

Imo, focus of Magic as a team, Mosley as coach, Weltman as PoBO, and Franz and Banchero as individuals shouldn't be on volumen of shots but quality & efficiency.

Today they aren't all that effective scorers. Some of it is their fault, but some of it is just bad offensive sets and very limited personelle to play offense with.
Combination of those factors gets you 8th worst offense.

This types of reports are complete BS and waste of time.

Like, there was additional 15 uncalled travels, 15 other mistakes, coaches stepping into a cort during Monk foul that should be automatic tehniqual foul .

I mean, it's nba.
Trey Lyles on first step puts his leg in air, plants it, makes second step, and is yet to put ball on the floor, refs don't call anything.
Banchero was called for one pivot that usually is uncalled.
Than in middle of a third quater, Suggs gets ball, has left pivotal foot planeted, changes it to right, changes it to left, makes 3 little steps with pivotal foot, and plants leg on the floor before ball and shoots jumper. No call :D

It's just... nba. Officiating is more casual than dads playing pickup game. Having "officiating mistake report" is hilarious, given that every game has probably 30+ uncalled violations.

What about Ingles walking to midcourt to argue with a ref. He's was a fan of this game. Frankly, he should have had security eject him.

What are you gonna do!
