Can't use them in a 5-for-1 if they're non-guaranteed anyway. ;)

Fontecchio went undrafted in 2017. He recently turned 28. While it's his 2nd NBA season (so technically he might be considered on his rookie contract) when they signed him last year it was more of just signing a random FA guy who was 26 yrs old.

I doubt he's in Utah's long term rebuilding plans.

I didn't look at his age, and assumed he was younger. Intriguing player. Looks like he could be a bigger, longer version of Svi, making Svi and one of Banton/Stevens expendable (Joe seems to like Brissett so far). 2 for 1 (with additional assets). Then there is still two open roster spots that can be filled by Queta, or Davison.

Well, I'll keep an eye out for Fontecchio tonight. Maybe he'll bring that extra effort to get traded to a contender after reading this on RealGm!

This one seems weird. Why would SAC trade 3 rotation players when they're the 5 seed in the west? Perhaps looking to package up 2 or 3 of these guys for a 3rd star to go alongside sabonis and Fox?

I have heard some rumors that the kings may be interested in Lavine..

I read they were interested in Siakam on Yahoo

It’s functionally an impossibility but they’d have to aggregate four of them in some weird way to surpass using the TPE. Weird he mentions it.

What do you guys think is fair trade value (pick(s), obviously) to bring in Fontecchio using our TPE?

IDK. He seems to have maybe about the same trade value as Muscala. Both good shooters with size who don't do a whole lot else. Ok defenders. Pretty good in terms of basketball IQ/fundamentals. Not starters and might not even be a rotation guy for every team in the league. Both guys who would be either a deep bench guy or a bench rotation piece for most teams, with the possibility of getting some spot starts on a bad team.

Cheap contract.

Muscala had much more NBA experience so that's a plus for him, but Fontecchio being 3 yrs younger and closer to peak age of a pro basketball player is a plus for him.

I think they'd have roughly the same trade value. Which for Muscala was a 2nd round pick + the last guy at the end of our bench (justin Jackson) who was then immediately waived by OKC.

We just got a boatload of 2nd round picks on draft night a few months ago. Perhaps you move 1 of them along with Svi and call it a day.

Muscala had another cheap year though. Fontecchio is a RFA this offseason.

With Fontecchio I think it's a question of the Jazz being willing to move him. Just not sure I see the point on their end. They have a ton of PFs. They have a ton of smaller guards. They really lack wing-sized players. He's starting for them and they're one game out of the play-in. They have a ton of future picks so they're already in a roster crunch longer term. They have tons of financial room to re-sign him. I just don't see them looking to move him for hos realistic trade return.

Trading for Siakam would be a very Kings move.

Siakam is awesome when slotted into the right role, but god damn would I hate the fit of him next to Sabonis.

Right? The worst possible front court partner for him.

I personally would give up the 2024 1st round pick for Fontecchio because I don't value the 30th pick (Celtics don't need another Jordan Walsh in the G League). Unfortunately Ainge is going to want more and if your the Celtics you can't give more because he would probably be a rental.

Fontecchio has been brought up numerous times in the thread.

From what I've read, Ainge had been keeping tabs on Fontecchio for years and he finally landed him in Utah. I highly doubt Ainge is looking to move him now that he is starting and shooting 41% from three point range, especially for what the Celtics would offer. Fontecchio more than likely resigns in Utah.

If Ainge liked Fontecchio so much why didn't we sign him anytime after 2017 when he went undrafted? Instead we got Poirier.

You might be right..in which case we might try and get Bey or OPJ instead.

But what does a young rebuilding Jazz team gain by resigning a 28 year old wing who's only been in the NBA for 2 years? Especially when they have a SF (Sensabaugh) and a PF (Hendricks) who they just drafted in the 1st round but they're not able to get enough minutes because random 28 year old guys are blocking them from getting those minutes.
