REB + AST + STL + BLK

Post#1 » by Statistician MK » Sat Jan 6, 2024 1:53 pm

I did this, cause I wanted to see which NBA player has the "best total" of the most popular stats, but without the points...
And I was surprised when I noticed that Scottie B is on this Top-10 list... Nice to see him among all these elite players!

Out of these 10, Barnes is 7th in REB, 7th in AST, 1st in STL and 4th in BLK... And 8th in points (only Sabonis and Wembanyama have less points than him)!

He does a lot of things out there. Would like to see him score in more diverse ways eventually.
not strong, only aggresive cuz the power ain't directed/ that's why, we are subjected to the will of the oppressive

Scottie's got a bright future.

Sabonis is underrated.

The list of the Raptors' players was:

1. Scottie Barnes
2. Jakob Poeltl
3. Pascal Siakam
4. Dennis Schroder
5. RJ Barrett
6. Immanuel Quickley
7. Gary Trent Jr.
etc.

This is essentially the rebounds + assists list. You have to weigh steals and blocks heavier (5x) to give them proper weight.

If I do it with (5x), Barnes would go up two spots!

Reminds me of fantasy points, but even those would have different weights.

Anyone remember Smallworld (taken over by The Sporting News)? I loved that system. Would probably still be into fantasy basketball if it existed.

Rebounds were 1.5, Ast 2, and Stl/Blk 2.5. You lost points for missed FGs (-0.5), FTs (-1), and TOs (-1... I think), and there was a bonus for triple doubles (kinda dumb but fun).

I wonder how today's players would score. The huge uptick in 3s would make things really interesting.

It'd be most logical to put them into a grid and sort by standard deviation or percentile.
