He's a good smart player, and he's a good target.

BUT :

1. It's not worth our trouble if we give up Duncan. The net gain will be minimal, we need Duncan.

2. I'm not sure he bring enough of a scoring punch to address our creation issue. Rozier is more of a natural scorer and creator and might be a better target for the same price. Same for Sexton.

Still, Tyus >>> Lowry.

I stated the reason why Duncan and his 18 million needs to be traded with heavy consideration of the cap if we are to improve the PG spot. We can keep going around in circles discussing Lowry or Caleb but it’s Duncan’s 18 that turns into 20 next year that we need to get rid of.

We can’t even sign a warm body if we needed too without going into super tax. Duncan is playing well and i’m proud of his turnaround but we also need to give too get. When Butler is back it has to be JJJ that continues to get the lions share of minutes at the wing spot off the bench with Martin.

I don’t want us to be an offense that’s heavily reliant on Duncan. This team needs another player maker that can get players easy baskets. We sorely need another PG to tandem with Lowry and to be our PG next year and beyond.

Rozier would also be a solid get but once again the Robinson contract is needed in order to wash out Rozier’s 23 million. The problem is matching the 23 and also staying away from super tax. Sure Robinson and Martin can get it done but does it make sense for us to give them both up here? Tyus Jones too me seems like the easiest and more affordable get that also gives us prime flexibility.

Next big date for us is Jan 21st when the contract of Dru Smith can be officially included in a trade to dump.

We got wing players for days. It’s time to cash in for a PG. Alondes is going to get scooped up here soon the way he’s been playing. 6’5 210 he’s a potential 2-4 Spoball player like Martin.

Gotta cut bait with Dru and pick up Williams. He’s playing too well to ignore. Other teams are going to be aggressive in picking up our guys given our track record.

We can’t just cut bait with Dru. It puts us in the supertax. Needs to be dealt. Only 25k away

Only way of locking in Alondes is to let RJ Hampton go. If not have to wait until Dru Smith is dealt as a throw in

When can we start doing 10 day contracts?

When can we start doing 10 day contracts?

10 days can start signing as of two days ago. Jan 5th. If not mistaken a 10 day still counts against the cap and tax will have to be paid on the salary. I think it’s 61k and we are only 25k away from the super tax line. If it’s a hardship 10 day then I think it doesn’t count against the tax but not sure if we qualify for that.

What are the differences between standard and hardship 10-day contracts?

A hardship deal is granted due to injury or illness and can be used outside of the trade window.
A standard deal can deal can only be offered if the franchise has a free spot on their 15-man roster.
Standard deals count against team salary for cap and tax purposes, but hardship contracts do not.
A player can only sign two standard 10-day contracts with the same team in the same season, but can sign more with the hardship exception.

Robinson 18.1 19.4 19.8(10 million partial guaranteed)
Bryant 2.5 and 2.5 player option
D Smith 1.8 expiring (out for year)

22.4 million to put in play for trade that keeps in mind the cap for next year. Think long and hard how badly you want Duncan on this team at the expense of not shoring up more other areas of need. That 19.4 million next year along with the minimal savings we’ll get from the Lowry expiring is not moving the needle in helping improve this roster.

I've mentioned him a while back - he clearly has the physical tools of an NBA guard, he can 100% drive and pass and score in variety of ways.

The question is his outside shot - he's not consistent from 3, which is a must.

Still, the upside is there if we can fix his shot and improve the decision making.

BTW - Cole Swider in an NBA player. He's got Duncan 2.0 written all over him.

Elite shooter, plays within himself, good size. If Duncan is traded, this guy is a must have.

Cole Swider will be immediately converted to a contract the moment Duncan is traded.

I wish Kuzma wasn't such an idiot, Him and Tyus for Lowry would fit.

I wonder who's going to outbid for Mitchell. Knicks don't seem likley with their roster. Nets don't have much to offer.

I just want us to hold out waiting for a Mitchell trade only to end up like the Lilard Fiasco

I might die alone on this train, but I swear I believe in Swider more then I do in O.Robinson/Cain/Dru/Bouyea/Alondes.

He's like a less streaky Duncan. Really elite shooting with his size and aggressiveness = useful player. I'd lock him up cheap for 4 years if I could.

BTW Bouyea has the best first step of anyone in a Heat Jersey currently. I'd like see him playing with the Heat for a few games, you can't teach his quickness.
