He is a passer and playmaker. Which we do not have on this team. He is not a scorer like Suggs or Cole. He had 4 assists tonight. But also 0 for 4 from FT line. His form seemed to change a bit than last season.

Except spacing the floor and shooting, he is very efficient tonight. He can make others around him better.

But he is not going to create space for Franz and Paolo
If he can't even shoot fts, he is done. If he at least is shooting like last year, I still prefer him over Cole any day of the week but likely as a 6th man and not our starting PG. If we live in fantasy land and somehow his 3pt shot comes back, he is our starter. For me, it is as simple as that.

Next season if we don't sign a big FA, this should be our rotation.

Paolo
Wagner
Goga
Suggs
Houstan

Cole
Black
Jett
JI
Wagner.

Might be better to have WCJ on there instead of JI but a healthy(big if) JI fits this team better.

If it's between him and Gary Harris then no question he should start

I'll just take Houstan getting regular minutes in the rotation, and people searching for him. Has to shoot when he's out there.

Suggs is 20-35 from 3 over his last 4 games.

Houstan is 15-28 from 3 over his last 4.

35-63 (56%) in total. 105 points total. 8.8-15.8 3pa and 26.25ppg scored purely from 3 between those guys, for the last 4 games.

That’s insanely hot shooting. I believe they can settle into a 40% average though, whilst maintaining high volume.

Definitely think something is wrong with Fultz. Correct me if I’m wrong but his post game interview, he keeps twitching. Which wasnt normal last year. Perhaps the nerves of TOS is flaring up again.

Gotta feel bad for the guy.

His return looked hideous. He's damaged goods and physically handicapped where he cannot perform certain basketball actions. He's a niche roleplayer at this point.

Once Jingles comes back that role is filled so Fultz can go back to healing in street clothes.

He's always done it a bit, not sure about the frequency of the post-game stuff, but it's not new. Clearly there is something wrong with his form for sure.

Magic aren’t losing a single game with shooting like that and Franz returning.

Yup!!

Ppl were pushing him out the door not even a week ago!

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

Board is too reactionary unfortunately... he's a good rotation player when given the chance. He's finally able to play and he's living up to his sharp shooting ways. The only issue is that Caleb isn't much of a point of attack defender that they love trotting out at the guard positions with Suggs, Black, Fultz, and now Queen.

Caleb was a top recruit out of HS.

He also graduated a year early.

If he stayed 1 more year, he might have been the top recruit.

He also left College too early. His season was not very good.

When I watch him, he just does not move like a guard.

He is big enough to be a SF, wonder why the Magic keep force-feeding him as guard?

The labels of "guard" or "forward" don't often mean much

Our "point guard" is 6'10 250 pounds

Unpopular opinion? Hes only played 5 games where everyone was getting into playing shape to which he got injured. Now we're in the middle of the season everyone is in mid-season form.

He's starting back from scratch again. And again it's hard to judge since he's just gotten back into the lineup. You have to give him a month or two to have a fair assessment of his play.

The only thing I'll say about him now due to his injury history is that he's unlikely to be a starter for any organization since he's consistently hurt. The talent is there. But he'd be relegated to a 6th man/bench role playing 20-25 minutes max.

I want him to be in a 4 man quartet guard role with Suggs, Cole, and whoever is going to be signed (Which I'm assuming is going to be Gary Trent Jr. seeing how things are shaking out). All 4 of those guys don't play more than 25-27 minutes per game anyway. So you're able to resign him at a reasonable price while adding that shooter at the guard spot and you have an elite role playing guard rotation going into the 24-25 season.

So apparently Houstan is the first Magic 2nd round pick to score 25pts since 1990….

Houstan has built up enough equity to warrant a bigger investment. Does he get rewarded with a rotation spot?

Okeke is nice, too. Another player showing the upside to be a rotation player. The defense and 3 ball look legit and he has an underrated dribble game and some playmaking.

I kind of look at them as sell-high candidates. I'd test the trade market for them, see if we can package them for a quality starter or a key rotation player.

We can put together a package of young prospects, cap relief, and draft equity to compete with any offers out there.
