Best thing about RK's situation is that there's no pressure. He was not drafted at 3 by us with the hopes of running out team on offense. He can be a great 3rd or 4th option for us in a stealth star role. Pressure now shifts to Scottie, actually, because his number are going to head South with our expanded offensive talent.

The one step short tendency is the same thing I keep saying about Barnes. Barrett has much better footwork though. But Barnes definitely needs go get in deeper instead of just doing his usual 1 2 step and then taking off way too far only go force up an out of control contested layup
Yeah I hate how he initiates from the perimeter. There was a play this game where Quickley had the ball and told him to get deeper but Barnes asked for it near the perimeter and then backed his man down, but missed. He needs to start getting further near the basket like Siakam does amd it will make the game even easier for him.
Barrett I felt was pulled too quickly I'm the last couple of games by Darko. He definitely seems to love that he's ok this team now.

After a game like that and hes marked a 3rd or 4th option lmao. You guys will never admit that you may be wrong.

What? That's all RJ is slated to be for us. Doesn't mean that won't change when Siakam gets moved.

I expect what he did in this game every night. He didnt get the opportunity to play downhill this often in NY or play below the 3pt line around Randle. If Iq played this well nobody says temper your expectations.

I think the free throw shooting improvement is so interesting. Could mean a more consistent outside shot is possible.

It's like people didn't watch RJ on the Knicks since he got drafted. He's been inconsistent, ask any Knick fan, they'll tell you.

It may all turn out that the pecking order will simply depend on matchups and who is having a good start.

RJ has always been a SG/SF, wheras Scottie has been a SF/PF/C growing up. Can see Scottie get more handles like Charles Barkley (MVP) did over his career.

Its a good game, but he's had games like these before and he completely disappears in the next.
I'm not expecting him to do this on a nightly basis, but its good to have 3-4 reliable options in Barnes, Quickley, Maple and Siakam.

his rep is established, good or bad. he will have to show consistency before being given a bigger role on offense.

I mean hell, against the kings he had both in the same game. 1st half looked great, 2nd half looked like garbage. RJ is RJ, inconsistent his entire career, all we can hope is that he starts getting better at that.

Props TZ!

Re: Official RJ Barrett Thread
give it a rest already. Yhe guy is 23 years old hanst dven reached his prime yet, no idea wtf your problem is with the agenda. He clearly has skills and has flashes of why he was a top 3 pick. It's weird to have a guy that talented and young and fot some reason actively want to prove why he sucks and won't get any better. The guy already haa more offensive polish than Barnes, and yet people want to keep running more iso plays for Barnes to force up awkward shots. Weird ****.Scase wrote:Westside Gunn wrote:Its a good game, but he's had games like these before and he completely disappears in the next.

I remember Norm was trash in his 3rd year and everyone was saying Masai messed up giving him that 48mil/4 years deal. The team didn't give up on him, he improved a lot the following year and was solid off the bench in his 4th year (the championship year). Then he became a high end role player in his 5th and 6th season with us.
RJ is much more talented than Norm, has great size for a SG/SF, still 23 only and was a former 3rd overall pick. Darko is a good development coach and RJ is a hard worker, I don't see why we cant develop him into a high end role player at the very least.

Re: Official RJ Barrett Thread
It sounds crazy but I think him having the entire left lane to himself has really helped him be a bit more comfortable on drives now that he doesn’t have to share the left lane with Randle and also Brunson.
He absolutely has tunnel vision when he’s on the right side of the court but is able to make beautiful passes on the left. It’s hilarious lol, dude is completely hard wired to be a lefty.

OG always tried to play bully ball but the poor guy would either bounce the ball off his foot, fall down or get called for push offs loll

Never even thought about that angle and I already likes his skillset. He might blow up here.
