It’s January and they’re still one of the better teams in the league.

Also it’s been made clear that Giannis like the management and doesn’t want to demand a trade.

he’s not gonna ask out in the middle of the season. now if they completely bomb out in the playoffs like last year again.. that’s a possibility

Aren’t there a bunch of sub-superstar players who’ve been main cogs with average efficiency? Wasn’t that Melo? RJ is drawing fouls. There are shades of Paul Pierce but seems doubtful he’s that good.

DDR didn't become an efficient scorer until his age 26 season. I think Jimmy Butler & Paul Pierce didn't hit league average efficiency on volume until they were around 24 either...though Jimmy came into the league much older.

Jaylen Brown still struggles to score efficiently...he was efficient from 2020-2022, but wasn't before then, last season he was bang on league average like Julius, and this season his TS is at 56.9% when league average is 58.1%

Names I've seen thrown out over the last few pages when discussing players needing time to find their way to efficiency in the NBA - DeRozan, Randle, Pierce, Butler, and Jaylen Brown.

DeRozan was not the most efficient guy initially, but he was literally above league average TS% in his rookie season, and mostly slightly below league average across his first six seasons.

Julius hasn't come into his own on anything measurable - even with him cutting down his 3PA this year, he's had several seasons more efficient - icluding a couple significantly so - than this current one being deemed a breakout by some.

Jaylen Brown was slightly below average efficiency his rookie year, above average his sophomore season, with multiple seasons above since.

Jimmy Butler was almost exactly league average efficiency his rookie year, then well above his sophomore season, and significantly above league average when he finally took on volume in year 4.

Paul Pierce is the funniest of all - the dude literally came into the league as a rookie with an above league average TS% on over 20 shots a game and never looked back.

Unlike all of the names people have thrown out as attempted comps with regards to becoming more efficient, RJ Barrett has never even been CLOSE to league average in scoring efficiency for his entire NBA career. He's been with the bottom of the barrel of the league in terms of players that are actually allowed/supposed to shoot the ball.

I get wanting the guy to succeed and rooting hard for him to do so. But these connections that people are attempting to draw with star players are completely invalid whether it's because they aren't adjusting for era/season, or because they're just flat out incorrect. All of the guys mentioned clearly demonstrated some level of scoring efficiency before they broke out; they had posted full season production above, or just slightly below league average efficiency. RJ Barrett hasn't even given a glimmer of hope in his four NBA seasons in that regard.

Bucks have had a cakewalk schedule so far. I think the lack of defense will hurt them later in the season when they play better teams.

Giannis doesn't strike me as the type to demand change, then quits when those changes don't work out.

Seems to me a person who demands change publicly is more likely to quit if demands are not met.

But who knows.

DDR is so trash when he has the ball in crunch time of a close game.

If he made 10M less, he'd be an interesting reclamation project.

 I swear, I hate this. I've mostly been staying away the past few months - I see things that are blatantly factually incorrect or unsupportable, and just log off. But man, some of this post trade stuff is just crazy.
