Randomly got this in my feed. No agenda in posting this other than to reminiscence the VC days in Raptors history.

PS: Shout out to anyone who still watched Raptors games back then with their Potato Definition TVs

PPS: Don't mind the fact that Vince was drafted 25 years ago for anyone who was watching live throughout his entire Raptors tenure.

Watching a guy windmill dunk in a regular season game was something special, and I appreciate it even more now considering that basically never happens nowadays. Glad I got to watch him as a kid.

Name one guy in today's NBA with VC's high-flyer athleticism and smoothness

Zion is pretty much a 280 lb version of Vince with less aesthetic.

Watched the "360 with one hand" dunk in game at my first ever game live at age of 19. Was sitting baseline behind the basket where he made that dunk. After the game ended (last game of reg season), VC made a speech to fans to promise us that they will make the playoffs next season, and then threw his shoes towards us fans, but I missed it.

He did it so often that we took it for granted...like, "oh, there's another VC highlight dunk in game? It must be a Tuesday".

Zach Lavine maybe. Pre-injuries definitely. Not quite the same power, but First Team All-Smooth for sure.

The smoothness was the key too and what made him extra special. There are high flyers and athletes who are probably just as good, but Vince made it look so easy and...sexy/suave/stylish. Like he was barely trying for most of them.

If only you got extra points for style....VC would've been the GOAT

Love me some VC. Every game was must see TV, before he mailed it in. I remember skipping bball practice, because I didn't want to miss VC vs Iverson

When I watch the guy's highlights I just can't think of anyone that has come close to him other than Gerald Green. Seems like these guys are on trampolines.

Is it vince who inspired that trampoline slamball league?
Google "Hind Rajab"
Total Killed by Israel = 50,000+
Israel kills a child every 45 minutes and ban aid workers from bringing in baby formula
Total being starved by Israel = 500,000 -1,000,000

Prime Blake was doing some pretty incredible stuff too...I think he got the closest, but he was more powerdunker than stylish/smooth like Vince. Blake was one of those guys that would actively look to dunk it nasty style on you every time. He was one of the few who would regularly windmill an alley-oop attempt in-game with no problem.

Aaron Gordon has the contest skillset but doesn't have the explosive ability to get the fancy dunks off in game like Vince did - AG is more of a big-man type dunker in game.

Desmond Mason was a great and smooth "2-foot" dunker but like Gerald Green, couldn't do much else so doesn't get the recognition he could have deserved if he had a better career.

He also played during VC era, so was always overshadowed.

So glad I was a season ticket holder during his era with toronto. What an amazing superstar¹ and a generational talent. Raptors are where they are today due to VC paving the way... GROAT.

This is really the only comparison in 25 years. It's a combo of athleticism, fast twitch, vertical leap, body control (including "hang time"), fluidity, creativity, explosiveness, force, and sheer will. It's a lot of things........only these two possess them all.

I watched VC’s entire career with us. Still my favourite player due to childhood nostalgia. The ROY, dunk contest, highlight reels, the purple jerseys, Nike Shox, Slam covers, the Olympics, NBC Sunday matchups, beating the Knicks with Alvin Williams clutch shot, the Game 7 shot and graduation. Then the ugly ending.

Ended up watching the entire Bosh/Bargnani era in disgust, warming up again during the Masai/Demar/Lowry winning years, and finally the climax of 2019. Grateful to have seen a ring in my lifetime.
