What about the people who blind Lessly follow Joe even when ALMOST everyone thinks Joe should call a timeout. Or when teams score 44 points in a 3rd quarter and Joe hardly ever calls a timeout?
Good thing posters like you have an excuse of a "bad overturned call" to Blind you to the fact that Joe once again, did NOTHING!
There’s been other times when timeouts have been called and it doesn’t change ****.
Timeouts are talked about on here like they’re some magic solution to everything.
They are not.
Phil Jackson the man with 6 coaching rings used to sit there and tell his guys to play it out.
It's not just any time out ,,with 20 seconds to go. You call a time out .. Design a play.. Hold for a near last second shot. So at least if you miss then OT..
The fact that anyone could even argue this blows my mind..
There’s actually numerous coaches who don’t just instantly resort to a timeout in the final seconds and will let their guys try win it.
Mazzulla obviously likes not instantly resorting to a timeout but there have been times when he has called them.
Just because Mazzulla didn’t call a timeout doesn’t mean Jaylen should go and shoot leaving time on the clock. That’s a Jaylen decision. He’s not a rookie. He’s a veteran now and should be smarter.
Going back to stuff I’ve heard Mazzulla say from last season is that he likes not using timeouts sometimes. He felt last season though he didn’t necessarily have them prepared for those no time out situations as well as he should have.
I’m guessing in some of these games he perhaps hasn’t called them as he’s trying to get players reps in these situations before the playoffs start.
Something like that could win us a close playoff game if the defence doesn’t have time to set and we get a good shot.
In the case of Indy tonight, they randomly threw three guys at Brown. That was dumb dumb defence off the chaos of no timeout. Brown should have passed the ball.
