I'll accept any kind of an outside presence with the track record Washington has had. NFL GM's are kind of unknowns in general though. Hard to really have insight into who's a good pick other than to avoid retreads. But Bob and Harris will likely go for someone super on the cutting edge of the analytics scene.

I'm uncomfortable with QB evaluation in general. So many guys that have put up big time numbers like Haskins in college. 50 touchdowns, 8 interceptions, 70% completion percentage, and looks like an absolute amateur in the pros. Those guys aren't playing a similar enough game in college to feel comfortable with the analysis.

QB evals are tough because there's so much that goes into getting the right one. Usually the ones that can go off script when a play goes awry are the ones who get taken early (which was Haskins' main issue in the pros because he never faced that at Ohio State). It's why Caleb, despite being only 6'1, is going first overall. His ability to go off-script is unworldly...he's literally Fran Tarkenton re-incarnated.

From there, arm strength, accuracy, mobility, ability to read defenses, and measurables make up your next tier of things to look for.

Production in college is the last tier to me, and that's because it's almost entirely dependent on what system that QB is in and who they play with. Jayden Daniels, for example, has better numbers than Williams and Maye, but he also got to throw to two freakin' beasts in Nabers and Thomas Jr. Bo Nix had even better numbers than Daniels but again, the system he played in allowed him to make relatively risk free passes. You put Daniels and Nix on UNC, and they would look pedestrian IMO.

Anyway, I do think it's Williams and Maye as 1a/1b in the class as far as QB prospects are concerned. I don't think Daniels should be in that tier and I don't think the Patriots draft him third. If Penix didn't have the injury concerns, I would probably put him above Daniels.

As for the Commanders, Maye is the guy unless they find a trade partner that works. I wouldn't mind taking MHJr and pairing him with Daniels, Bo Nix or Penix and essentially getting a two-for-one deal. If that's not possible, then take Maye. He's the second best off-script thrower in the class, and he has the best physical traits you want in a franchise QB.

Some early mocks would have Washington drafting a tackle or even Harrison, and then taking Penix in the 2nd round. But I'm looking at the draft order now, and I can see him being drafted 11-13, or back half of the first round. League is driven by QBs, if you don't have one, you don't stand a chance.

I do agree Maye is probably the guy. He's 6'4'', 225. Caleb would be a nice story, local HS kid coming back to play for the home team but it sounds like Chicago is asking for a kings ransom just to move up one spot and it's not worth it.

If they're drafting a QB at #2, I really think they gotta go with an offensive coach. I don't wanna end up like the Chargers - with a young QB on a $200M extension and a defensive coach who can't win games in today's NFL.

Yep. Ben Johnson is perfect for this team.

I guess I can get my head around Drake Maye. If Jj McCarthy slips to say the fourth round, I might take him too… like we did with Cousins.

Penix wasn't good tonight. Had opportunities to make some plays and he missed them.

So my QB thoughts for this year's draft. Mostly gonna take a look at guys I think we should draft and a couple we shouldn't at all

Williams- I'm staying away from Williams. I get a Simmons vibe from him.

Maye- while I prefer to trade back for value I can live taking Maye at too. He's got good size and I'll feel better or worse on him once I see his measurements at the combine. Remind me a lot of Ben Roethlisberger.

Daniels- I think is a really good talent but he's 23 and I wouldn't touch him as high as he's gonna go. If we trade back and he slips into the 20s I'd go for it.

JJ - is a game manager at the next level and as high as his upside is I don't know if he's gonna bw much better than Howell and I wouldn't wanna invest a first into him.

Penix - has no ACLs left and doesn't have a strong arm or fast feet. He does have an amazing QB IQ . I wouldn't take him before the 4th but he's gonna go in the second.

Nix- I don't know if I'd want him in the second where he is probably gonna go. Idk he's ok but he needs work on his reads and I'm not sure you draft him with a second just to get beat out by Sam.

Cameron Ward- is gonna be the steal of the draft he has Dak written all of him. He's gonna be there in the 4th and if he makes it any further than the 4th round I'd love to take him.

Joe Milton. Is almost 6-6 with a cannon for an arm he's gonna be there in the 7 the and he's well worth a flyer even if you need to turn him into a TE at some point.

Chiefs roster has definitely been impressive overall but some questionable roster decisions since letting Tyreke leave (when he became AGM)

Mike Vrabel fired. :o

I bet he ends up as the Patriots HC this year or he takes a year or two off and takes over when Bill retires/gets fired, but he is a re-tread that is 100% worth bringing in for an interview. He does not deserve the negative connotation that usually is associated with the term, and whatever team gets him I think will have their HC for 10+ years assuming the personnel decisions made are correct.

From what I've heard it was probably a mutual thing.
