The Rockets are probably the team I've watched the most. I was going to post Jalen Green when I saw the thread title.

He's young, so there's hope, but I'm not convinced he really wants to max out his potential. I think he's fine just being out there and making his millions.

I would've liked to see his handle be much further along by now, and I think it could've been. Secondly, and this is partly related, I'd like to see him be more aggressive getting to the rim.

I'm not super down on him, but he's the only real candidate here for Houston. Best case scenario is he learns a work ethic from FVV.

The team I watch almost as much as Houston is Denver, and I would agree Zeke Nnaji is the pick there. MPJ or KCP are insane picks. KCP, in particular, has been awesome on defense.

If we don't count injured players I've honestly been most disappointed with Franz. He's been fine this year but his 3pt shot has been off and has just gone through some rough patches. Hasn't taken the so called leap.

I'm not really disappointed with John Collins relative to expectations. He's been knocking down his 3s at a 37% clip, and he rebounds well. He just doesn't have much on-ball creation.

I would argue Vando’s been more disappointing. Larger sample size of him playing than Gabe, both suffered from injuries, and Vando’s been a big disappointment at literally everything.

Ben is what was expected, solid COD player

Bridges is huge disappointment

This is a good example of why I thought the thread could be interesting. We all have different expectations. If others predicted great things and you did not, you aren’t disappointed when a player falters. Both answers can be correct for different people, depending on how their projection turned out.

For me, an injury is disappointing, even if the player isn’t responsible for being injured.

Ben is making 35 Million dollars this year and every freaking season he is OUT. :banghead: How can you not be disappointed with this guy?
Bridges if averaging 21pts, 5 rebs and 4 assists, sure his % has dropped but he still playing good defense and not missing games.

Joe Harris got paid $20 million, and went from starting half the games as a 3P assassin on a playoff Brooklyn team to being so spectacularly crappy he can't crack the rotation on the lowly Pistons.

Both have been ok but haven’t quite taken the leap many of us thought they would.

I don’t know why they have Jrue there. He has been nothing short of fantastic. Sure his FG% could improve a bit, but the guy has been asked to go from a 3rd option to 5th option and has done it with no complaints at all.

Can’t be Hauser. The only guy getting paid less than him is Jordan Walsh who hasn’t played a game. Hauser has outlived his contract in every way and I’ve always sort of tempered my expectations for him. Hauser has shown he can be top-10 in the league in 3pt % and even can slash and dunk a bit. Plus he’s a pretty good rebounder.

I’d say a guy like Svi or Banton that was brought in to shore up the bench is a better choice as those two have been damn near unplayable and we really could have used one of them with Hauser out last night.

Agreed on all counts. Collins is about what I expected. For me, disappointment is solely in relation to expectations… which are often flawed to begin with.

Case in point: my biggest disappointment on the Jazz is Keyonte George. The reasoning: I hadn’t been this excited about a rookie since 2017 and as of now he’s not trending towards Donovan Mitchell (2nd in ROY) but rather towards Trey Burke (3rd in ROY); his per possession stats are almost identical to Burke’s. Does that mean that I think Key is horrible? No, but he’s a disappointment relative to my (flawed) expectation. I don’t think he’s a disappointment to the Jazz brass. That’s probably THT.

For the Mavericks its Grant Williams without a doubt. He isnt even in the starting lineup anymore. Total bust.

Surprisingly thoughtful list of players. It's not even a knock on those players either, only that they're not meeting expectations in some way or another.

Gary Trent Jr, Buddy Hield, and Josh Giddey make a lot of sense.

I just don't know how disappointed one can be in Eric Gordon, Marcus Morris Sr, and PJ Tucker at this point.

It is a less important disappointment, and not quite the spotlight of Scoot or Ayton, but I’d say the Blazers biggest disappointment is Kris Murray. If Scoot were to continue as bad as he was the first 2 weeks of the season, it would be him, but he has improved significantly from then. Still below initial expectations, but he has had some good games and has shown he could become good in this league. Ayton is overpaid, but anybody who at least someday knew him didn’t really expect “DominAyton.” He rebounds well, is ok at defense, and is efficient enough at scoring. He is a high end role player and was always going to be that despite expectations for more ppg. Murray however, was a 1st round pick, and for an older rookie (23yo), was expected to be a rotation guy until he didn’t even look good in summer league. He has gotten most of his minutes due to injuries. In that time, He has occasional defensive flashes but very little of everything else. It would be easier to dismiss his poor production and difficulty cracking the lineup if he were a 19yo rookie instead of a 23 yo rookie.

JXL wrote: PHI: Kelly Oubre Jr.

Kelly Oubre has been phenomenal, a ridiculous score for us. He signed for a vet minimum late in the offseason and he's been a key rotation piece who plays well off Embiid and Maxey on both ends (and can actually, like, dunk, something Sixers haven't seen out of their wings in years). He's still a flawed player and no one's seeing him as a must-keep key guy going forward, but he's been a frickin coup as a bargain bin signing.

And Marcus Morris has zero exepctations, he was just a throw-in to the Harden trade so he's already done his job. He's been playing a little bit and doing alright too, he's old and can't do too much but he's definitely not doing worse than expected.

I'd probably say most disappointing has been Melton, since everyone likes him and thought he could soar a little more with a bigger role post-Harden. Hasn't been awful but he's been a pretty bad version of himself, to the extent that no one feels great about him as a future long-term starter. You could also throw in J Springer, our most exciting young guy entering the year who's doing some things well but can't play score enough to justify being out there at all. Maybe Mo Bamba too, since people thought he'd be an interesting rotation big but is in fact just an atrocious NBA player.

If the topic said "Most Disappointing Coach by Team" I won't hesitate to put Darvin Ham. Maybe it's Cam Reddish cause he's basura.

As a Raps fan I'd say Gradey Dick has been the most disappointing player. I understand he's a rookie but he was the 13th pick and is only averaging 3.5/1.2/0.8 with a .294 FG%.

Most disappointing player of the year is definitely Poole right? Wizards traded Chris Paul for one of the worst players in the league
