Re: Miami Heat 2023/2024 Regular Season - Thread 2.0
Trading Lowry has to be calculated. You can’t trade him without looking at the long term money and how it effects the cap or trading for expiring’s that you don’t want to be giving up assets for rentals if you can’t resign. If you trade Lowry and a 1st you better be sure the player you’re getting back is a keeper. The problem next is having money under the lux tax for that keeper. Trading Lowry for Rozier only accomplishes saving Micky let’s say 12 million off his bill this year but still in the tax. Next year we are still in the tax and become repeater’s. When has Micky been a repeat tax payer? He’s already looking at a 28 million dollar bill this year. The catch 22 here is nobody just wants Lowry’s contract unless unloading bad money and nobody will take Lowry and give something of relevance back without a 1st round pick.

We in here trying to get Tyus Jones for one SRPeven an extra second would be laughable. He’s going to be going for a protected 1st in the 20’s.

It’s changed that drastically that a PG like Tyus Jones who’s still young and can start for many teams in the NBA will be sold off for an all time low of a 2nd round pick? Seems like NBA 2k trade hope traffic. Go ahead and push that in the Wiz forum and report back please

I agree with MWP. I think there will be enough competition for Jones that a 1st will be required, though not the 2024 pick necessarily.

We can’t trade the 2024 pick. Will have to be 2028. I’m not opposed what so ever to deal a top 20 protected first for the chance of having Jones here and locking him up to an extension as our PG of the future. We won’t be going into next year trying to bargain bin patchwork the PG spot and can draft a young PG to bridge with Jones.

Re: Miami Heat 2023/2024 Regular Season - Thread 2.0
I personally love the idea of Lowry, Robinson, Martin, (Dru Smith contract) and 2028 protected 1st and 2026 2nd LAL for Rozier and Hayward. I will break down why for both sides.
Roster after trade
C Bam Adebayo C O Rob C TB
PF Niko Jovic PF Kevin Love PF Haywood Highsmith
SF Jimmy Butler SF Gordon Hayward
SG Tyler Herro SG Jaime Jaquez Jr
PG Terry Rozier PG Josh Richardson
SF Cole Swider PF Cain PG Hampton
What we give up in Robinson, Martin, and Lowry we gain back in the form of a dynamic scoring PG in Rozier who immediately elevates the starting lineup. We’ll miss Martin but he’s a free agent and most likely we can’t resign. We have Locksmith and J Rich to handle wing defensive duties.
Robinson’s role will be filled by Gordon Hayward coming off the bench on an expiring and once Butler is back then Jaquez will take the heavier load off the bench. Hayward and Jaquez should have absolutely no problems filling the void left by Robinson. I’m sure a former allstar like Hayward will be able to fill those shoes in a limited minutes role to preserve his health.
We retain prime cap flexibility with the expiring of Hayward and will have a chance to either resign him if he performs or go out MLE shopping. We’ll have our PG spot secure for the foreseeable future with Rozier so no worries going into the year.
Charlotte Hornets after trade
C Mark Williams C Nik Richards
PF Miles Bridges PF PJ Washington
SF Caleb Martin SF Cody Martin
SG Brandon Miller SG Duncan Robinson
PG LaMelo Ball PG Nick Smith Jr
Hornets shake up the roster and secure some picks. With the impending loss of Hayward they fill the void with Robinson who’s under contract for two more years and provides them a shooter for Ball to have an outlet. They also right a wrong and reunite the Martin bros. Hornets are starving for defense and Martin will bring that. I imagine they look to resign him. Lowry coming back is just a matching expiring that gets bought out.

Dudes like him, only the family get to really enjoy that much money. He is married to the game, which is what makes him all time great. In order to be the best and the top of something you have to commit yourself to it with every being in your body and push anything else that could take even minutes away from thinking about that one thing. That's what the all time greats ever did, which is why Spo at 70 years old when he retires will be when he goes sailing and travelling to his hearts content.

Re: Miami Heat 2023/2024 Regular Season - Thread 2.0
I’ve been watching all the different trade scenarios and it always seems that we end up at just letting Lowery expire because of Duncan’s money next season. I just have this thought that maybe we should, as hard at that’ll be, just trade him to Indy for Hield and see if they’ll give us pick. Would that free up the money needed to re-sign a Tyus Jones or do a Rozier trade? I know that Hield is a downgrade, but is it that significant of a downgrade? Would the ends justify the means in order to get a real point guard here?

Doubt Pacers go for something like that. Letting Lowry expire next year gets the team under the tax and allows just enough to sign an MLE player. Some have discussed it would be used to resign Martin.
Some have also mentioned resigning a 39 year old Lowry to a vet minimum deal and just keep running it back. Duncan and his 19.4 million coming off the bench at an already loaded wing position is an awful big luxury for what will be a team running out G League PG’s.
Trading Duncan and his deal puts us in the conversation for a Rozier and Tyus. I like Duncan and proud of him rebuilding his value but it’s time to shore up the PG spot and find another spacer. The past two years Duncan was pretty much irrelevant with Strus taking his job. Now he’s viewed by some as someone who’s too important to what we do. I believe we have Duncan’s replacement already in house dirt cheap in Cole Swider.

What you don’t want is Lowry being bought out and then immediately signed by a competitor in the East. Milwaukee and Cleveland could both use a backup PG as well, right?

Watching the Lakers, LeBron's body language is horrific. Is it possible he asks for a trade? Probably not, as he's likely going to ride it out in the sunset in Hollywood, but who knows? He looks miserable.
Lowry, Duncan, Dru Smith and a FRP for Lebby and change.

I think he's fine just riding it out in LA but surely expect Ham to be fired soon and some trades.

Suns would be a good fit too. Milwaukee has Payne and the Cavs pretty much rotate Garland and Mitchell between the PG spot that It probably wouldn't be worth Lowry having to be in Cleveland. Philly has Pat Bev.. I think if the Heat get what they want they won't sweat it much. Let's say we get Rozier and have to go up against a bought out Lowry well the last few times Rozier has faced Lowry he's torched him.

LOL LeBron is worth way more than that. He is still a Top 10-15 player in the league. No way he is traded for this garbage.

Lowry isn't getting bought out. He is too good to get bought out and his salary [as an expiring] makes him the perfect trade chip. No chance he just gets bought out.
