New nickname is Jailin Suggs when he has games with defense like this.

How many guys in this league can d up one of the premier guards like that on one end and go back and knock down 7 3pters on the other end?

Best part is he got a stop alone on Jokic in the prior possession. Then he went and grabbed an offensive rebound and got fouled, went to the line. Then the next possession he did this to Murray. Just winning play after winning play.

Almost half way through the season and Jalen Suggs is shooting a better 3pt% than Stephen Curry :rofl2:

Some people just didn't take context into account with him. Two sport player.. had to make a decision whether he was going to play college football or college basketball. Physically more mature than most players his age in HS and in college so he could get by with strength and speed rather than skill and craft. He still has issues with getting sped up in games and playing 1st quarters the way he should be playing 4th quarters. But if you watch basketball and saw the form, action, and arc on his J at Gonzaga and thought to yourself "yeah this kid can't shoot and will never be able to shoot" you are in the casual portion of basketball fandom.

Further skill development would be excellent. He also needs to stay healthy this season!

He makes difficult 3's too. His shot is fantastic right now.

No, we were told he would never, repeat never, be able to shoot the ball at an average %.

Never (did I say "never" enough?)

I love that he's adding a super fast catch and shoot 3 on the run, you know, that very Ray Allen-esque or Klay Thompson-esque 3 where they come off a pick sometimes to catch and shoot the ball in the same moment basically. He did it very early in the season and it made me blink twice, but he's been hitting them this season. And I think it's a perfect, playoffs type basketball way to score.

Anyone who watched him during his rookie season, saw that Suggs would get screwed by other Magic players by getting the ball passed to him at the end of the shot clock and just shoot the ball for the sake of salvaging a possession countless times

That along with him being the most common player to shoot at the end of quarters with half court heaves

I really wasnt concerned, ever with his shot. His form looked very technical & he struggled with injuries

It feels like Suggs and Fultz are the only ones that don't care about their 3's % to shoot at the end of the quarter, Cole waits until it's too late then pretends to throw it at the hoop, he's definitely a me player.

Jailin is the best defensive guard in the NBA. He's also shooting above average threes at volume.

The progress is fantastic. This is what he needs to do consistently. If we get that, then it would be HUUUUUGE. Hope fulfilled!

But c'mon guys... do we need to go as far as saying he's a better shooter than Steph?

 no one said he was a better shooter than Steph. I said he's shooting a better 3pt% for the season than Curry, which I found funny. It is also 100% true 39.9%>39.8%

I'm so happy he's figured it out. Suggs was a guy I was always going to have an irrational level of belief in dating back to his Gonzaga days. Call it the Kris Dunn effect.

There is some truth here, but he also took shots wayy beyond the 3pt line for no reason
look at his shooting chart from his rookie season, and look at all those 3 attempts far from the three point line:

Suggs is now over 40% on 3s for the season. Hopefully he can keep it up for the rest of the season. It'll do wonders for the team once we're healthy. If he's an effective shooter, questions of whether he's our SG of the future are over IMO.
