This team is really jelling well. Why rock the boat?

One line of thinking I have is just getting ahead of the 2nd apron limitations down the line. Grant TPE expires mid-July and in the future we can't aggregate salaries to match a guy making more. Might make sense to add a guy now, even if you're not intending to have him crack the rotation, because it then gives you more options later.

Whether it's getting a guy like Konchar that's signed longer term, Fontecchio who is an RFA this summer or getting someone with bird rights, you're opening up pathways to keep/add guys that aren't just vet minimum signings.

Yeah Grant TPE expires 7/12/2024. I think that Brad will wait 'til the Offseason to use that? I mean, no rush.

To increase the chances that we win the title.

Eh. How much can you increase it by? Top 8-9 Players are set.
You'd just be playing with Back of the Bench players. And right now, the whole Team is jelling.

They've been together since end of September?
Why get someone new, who's got to get up to speed; and for our 10th Player?

OK. Scratch what I said earlier. I'd Take Biyombo.
But, that means that Queta stays on the Two-Way.

Edit:
Then again . . .

Gotta weigh this.:
Biyombo is 6'8" and 31 yrs old.
Queta is 7'0" and 24 yrs old.

Biyombo was sitting there all offseason as a FA. He was a FA during training camp and when the season started. If we didn't sign him then, I doubt we're gonna sign him now.

Biyombo offers nothing that the Celtics don’t already have in Porzingis, Horford, Kornet and Queta. Biyombo would offer more experience, that’s it

Those are questions for Brad. There have been many reports over the past few weeks that have said the Celtics will be very active in the trade market, that they will aggressively seek bench help, and that we are looking to acquire a "big wing".

Reports have said we are going all in this season, Brad has the green light to spend. Brad said that the main tool he will try to use is the Grant williams TPE.

IMO, it's less about whether we should make a move..and more what who we should acquire.

I'd also add that imo our top 6 guys are set. There are certainly some question marks with the rest of the roster.

Lastly, I posted this on the previous page:

Spoiler:
My top 2 targets are Bey and Fontecchio. Either of them would help eat some reg season minutes, while also serving as Hauser insurance, in case the lights are too bright for Hauser come playoff time.

And even if Hauser is playing well in the playoffs, then Bey/Fontecchio could also serve as Pritchard insurance in case he isn't hitting shots or if he's getting hunted defensively - we could just go bigger..with Jrue, White and the Jays playing all the guard minutes.

Sometimes we as fans listen to what we only want to hear. No guarantee that we're gonna do something based on what Brad said. Maybe part of it is the FO wants the fans to temper their expectations and just be pleasantly surprised if indeed something happens.

Green light to spend on a Jrue Holiday or Kristaps Porzingis calibre of player might be different from the green light to spend on a $6M 8th or 9th guy that will cost the owners nearly as much as Holiday/Porzingis.

Of course - nothing in life is guaranteed. If I said we will definitely trade for someone, that wasn't what I intended to say.

But it appears to be very likely that Brad will aggressively look to acquire bench help (based on multiple reports). That's all I was really saying.

Parl seemed to be at a loss for why we would make a move so I was just filling him in.

I don't think that we'll make a move. Unless something glaringly beneficial comes through. Which I just can't see.
I believe that Brad stands pat. IMO about the only thing we should do, is Convert Queta.

We have a as good a shot a title as anyone if not better, if we have a shot at getting someone who will play and make a difference in the playoffs you have to. Tpe & pics can't help u in playoffs, big wing big guard big guy doesn't matter all killers no fillers, we might not need but overkill is better than underkill double tap to make sure. If we can get a impact player we have to try, shame if we still have tpe and 1st rd pic past deadline.

Bey is starting for Hawks. Are they really planning to let him go? I'm not crazy about his game and don't really see the fit here.

Reports are sayin that the only untouchable guys on the hawks are Trae and Jalen Johnson.

The role he'd play here could potentially be basically the same role he played for ATL in the playoffs last year. A wing with good size who can bring some toughness and scoring punch off the bench.

With that being said, since he is starting for them and has been a consistent double digit scorer for each of his 4 seasons in the league, the price might be too high for him - ATL might want more (in terms of quality players and/or draft compensation) than we can give.

But then again, he is on an expiring contract, so perhaps they know they're not gonna get *that* much for him..

I saw those reports. Johnson had a great game against Philly tonight: 25/16/7 glad to see he is starting to breakout, the potential and talent has been there.

Question is whether Hawks go for at least sneaking into the play-in, and if Bey is a piece of that puzzle.

Bey has toughness, scoring, rebounding, but I think his defense on the wing might hamper his ability to get on the court with the Celtics. Maybe he's improved on that end of the floor.

Cs better off getting a stretch 4 than trading for Bey.

Bey can play the 3 or the 4.

It's 2024..the 3 and the 4 are basically interchangeable positions at this point.

The position isn't as important. What's more important is finding a guy with some talent who can provide sufficient value on both ends of the floor, who we can acquire with the limited assets we have at our disposal.

I'm not opposed to getting Bey.

But I think the price will be too high.

If the Cs can get him then that would be great.

Queta isn't the 4th big until they sign him to the roster. I'm fine with him getting converted and taking that spot, especially with Luke playing better than I anticipated, but the fact that Brad hasn't pulled the trigger yet suggests to me that he's at least open to the possibility of it ultimately being someone different.

Biyombo ended up signing for $5m with the Grizzlies, might have been that he was looking for more than we could offer and/or a better shot a bigger role. At the vet minimum for a final stretch run, both sides might be more amenable at this stage.

I think Queta is probably the better overall player, but I also think Biyombo has a slightly better chance to not foul his way off the court. I'm happy with Queta, but if Brad for whatever reason would rather keep him on the two-way, then Biyombo is a solid addition if he's coming with no cost in terms of assets. Hopefully neither would ever need to play a minute in the playoffs regardless.

If Bey can play the Grant Williams role then I'm on board.

It boils down to price.

Can the Cs afford the asking price?

With Whitmore emerging in Houston I think more and more that Tate could be the guy the Celtics go after. Houston has too many wings
