Re: Pascal Siakam Trade Speculation Thread
Is Ausar available?
What's the read on Detroit? To me it seems Detroit front office over-committed to Monty and he is on record as saying when someone gives you that much money you take it (I believe he said something in that vein at his intro press conference).
Now is he just trying to get canned (but still collect his paycheck) by putting Ausar on the bench? A record-setting bad team can't give the guy any floor time to develop/work through things? It doesnt' add up.
All that to say, I don't know that Ausar is truly available (for Pascal or anything else Toronto has to offer).

Re: Pascal Siakam Trade Speculation Thread
Idk why people aren’t higher on Podz. The 2 prospects I’d want from the Warriors are Moody and Podz.
Podz is a good defender and rebounder at his position. He’s 3rd in the league in drawn charges per game and 4th in total drawn charges. He shoots 40% from 3 on over 3 attempts per game and takes care of the ball pretty well (2.5 assist/turnover ratio). And there isn’t really any issue with fit either since he can play the 2 next to IQ or come off the bench
For me, I’d be happy with Moody + Podz + filler + FRP. If we can negotiate Kuminga to be included that would be cool, but otherwise I’m fine without him. If we get Kuminga, we could flip him somewhere else for another FRP
IQ
Podz/Moody
RJ
Scottie
Jak

Kuminga had big upside when drafted but he's plateaued since rookie season. His per36 stats are very similar in 3rd year vs 1st. Could say he's doing more against starters now though. He's still young so maybe he can improve, hard to say from outside.

Ok GSW, you want to go all in for 1 more win, then go all in for 2 years.
Siakam, Schroeder, OPJ, Thad, Temple
Moody, Podz, Kuminga, Wiggins, CP3, 2 unprotected 1sts.
GSW get the 2 best players, OPJ who knows their system, and 2 vets.
Raps get:
Podz to replace Schro
Moody as backup SG and we can trade GTJ for pick+ expiring cap from worse player
Kuminga as a backup F...role the dice on his physical gifts
Wiggins play him in OG defensive role. Tell him he doesn't have to be a scorer. Rehab value hopefully
CP3 trade if we can to contenders and get pick+ expiring
2 unprotected pics could be huge.
IQ, RJ, Wiggins, Barnes, Yak
Podz, Moody, Kuminga, Boucher, Porter
Dick, 2 1sts, Detroit 2nd, return on GTJ and CP3
All the sudden that is a crazy young team but lots of them would have 3 or more years experience
as top 3 options on their team.
GSW
Curry, Klay, PS, Green, Looney
Schro, GP2, OPJ, Saric, TJD
That, Temple, Joseph
Could likely pick someone up in buyouts

You managed to make it to the end of a Woj pod that had Ramona Shelburne as a guest? I wouldn't be able to make it ten minutes haha.

Re: Pascal Siakam Trade Speculation Thread
Koreen did an exercise with some of his Athletic colleagues from teams supposedly interested in Pascal. He'd propose something aggressive, the colleague would push back with a lesser offer, and then each would decide whether there was an outcome they could agree on. For age, cap, contract reasons, or state of the other team, only one team - Dallas - seems like a destination that values, Pascal enough to take a risk on his contract. It's also a destination where he might with to remain. Detroit bowed out entirely, not even proposing a weak offer, just not in the right place to trade for Pascal (that would presumably mean the Detroit writer doubts management would throw a max at him in free agency. The others, GSW, BKN, Indy and OKC, declined to make an offer Koreen was enthusiastic about, although the bargain basement offer from OKC was at least on the margin. Some offers fail because of downstream cap concerns or unwillingness to add a high ceiling prospect or first round pick because the team might soon head into a rebuild (GSW). Others would have saddled the Raptors with too much downstream money while not offering an attractive pick or prospect. BKN's counter included Ben Simmons, but no Cam Thomas or picks.
The Dallas offer on which both Koreen and his counterpart agreed: Grant Williams, Tim Hardaway Jr, Josh Green, Olivier Maxence Prosper, 2025 second round pick (Raptors own formerly), and 2026 first round pick. The Mavs writer suggest Dallas might wish to swap Richaun Holmes for Williams. The Raptors would have to move some current season money to avoid the luxury tax. (I'd note that the Mavs traded for Kyrie without a guarantee he'd sign a new contract, so there is that), And Dallas has a new majority owner, even though Cuban is still in charge of basketball ops, so the team might want to make a statement to Luka about being competitive.

The guy doesn't excite me and may become as impactful as Siakam in the future but I'm not in favor of taking a guy who doesn't have a shot and putting him on that developmental trajectory.
For Pascal, my ideal acquisition is a guy like Tyler Herro. He further helps with floor spacing and still enough to factor in as part of our core.

Sorry why the jan 15th date?
Unlike the Dec. 15 rule, which allows most free agents acquired during the summer to be moved, the January 15 deadline only applies to those who were re-signed in the offseason, which means that only a handful are subject to it. Specifically, the only players who need to wait an extra month are players who "re-signed with their previous team and also got a raise of over 20%." Additionally, the player's salary must be worth more than the league minimum and the team must've been over the cap and used Bird or Early Bird rights to sign said player.

It was a tough listen no doubt but it paid off with this tidbit of information. We now know that Pascal’s agent and Masai and Bobby were likely in the same building for a period of time during the Clippers game!
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

I don't think ppl aren't high on Podz...it's just that he wasn't rumoured to be available. Now that reports are saying everyone's on the table except Curry, Podz definitely should be a piece we should try to get in any potential deal for Siakam.

Re: Pascal Siakam Trade Speculation Thread
Detroit is going to be the team that gets this done. Pascal not wanting Sac or ATL is strictly about money and what type of next contract they would offer. Obviously they are not going to pay him $50m a season when they have other max deals to worry about. This is why his camp has been out front about not wanting to re-sign in either place.
It has nothing to do about going to a winning place, but more about securing his next bag for five years if possible.
Detroit stinks but they spent $78.5 on Monty Williams and they have money to spend next year. Dwane Casey spent some time last December in Toronto probably to talk about a deal with Masai. You know Casey will advocate for Siakam.
Deal wise, I think they would target Beef Stew (tough C that can stretch the floor a bit), plus Bogdanovic (previously mentioned as a Raps trade target) and Jaden Ivey (prospect). I ran it through a couple trade checkers and it appears to work, but Stewart is on a PPP, so I am not sure how easy to trade that is.

Re: Pascal Siakam Trade Speculation Thread
Thought this snippet I read on Wiggins and Kuminga playing together was interesting
https://fansided.com/posts/nba-rumors-andrew-wiggins-available
With Kuminga and Wiggins on the court, the Warriors have been outscored by 20.65 points per 100 possessions, but with Kuminga on the court and no Wiggins, the Warriors have a plus-9.07 net rating. Kuminga has shown he’s capable of handling a more prominent role, but with Wiggins acting as his kryptonite, it has been hard for the Warriors to find him enough minutes.

If that’s the best offer I could probably live with it. In Podz and Moody I feel like you’re getting two high basketball IQ guys who will know their roles. They’ll play defense, make open shots, and compliment our main guys.
Kuminga is still developing his shot and feel for the game. I get the sense he will expect a bigger role on offence than he is capable of right now. Maybe that’s good in terms of confidence. Maybe it’s bad in terms of helping the team. I do think that his elite athleticism is something we lack on the wing so I’d really push to have him included, perhaps in lieu of a pick.

Re: Pascal Siakam Trade Speculation Thread
My Siakam-GSW Trade Idea, assuming GSW sees value in Boucher, would be:
Siakam + Boucher
FOR
Wiggins / Kuminga / Moody / Pods + 2 FRPs
We get 3 youth + 2 picks because a) we need an extra carrot for taking on Wiggins contract, and b) we are giving an extra win now asset in Boucher, which other teams would give us something for.
