Yeah this gets back to the margin for error we have to play with. It's a championship level roster even if Dame has slipped a bit (and I'm not yet inclined to think he has given the other issues). The roster has it's problems, and we're just not going to be very good at the point of attack, but the coaching is basically AWOL on offense, and actively sabotaging the defense and rebounding.

I don't envy Horst's position here, but I think he knows this is untenable. I'm not against making roster moves, especially if we can take a flyer on someone for the corpse of Pat, but I'm pretty down on trying to find guys to fit Griffin's scheme. First, because I just don't believe in a guy trying to jam a square peg into a round hole. Second, because the square peg is a worse peg! It's wild to want to move away from a great backline that defends the paint and gobbles up boards in service of high variance pressure and gambling.

Giannis is the biggest reason we won one in the first place.

Absolutely. GOAT Buck and has had an amazing impact on this city. I’m grateful. But if he hangs it up in 8 years, wins another MVP but we end up with only 1 title? If we never even make it back to the finals? Packers fan know, there’s going to be a lot of regret and wondering what went wrong.

This was a great listen last night while my dog had explosive diarrhea at 3:00 AM... and summed up the Bucks season. Rarely do we get this level of incite/reflection from the press. Can we hire Wos to be our GM?

Wos might have made some great points but I'd have no idea because I stopped once I heard his voice. Dude is nails on chalkboard to me and I'm not sure why. It's like he tries a little too hard to sound cool/overly flippant all the time.

Honestly this doesn’t feel like a situation that with a trade for good defensive player(s) everything will magically make sense on that end. On the other hand Bucks are already historically good at offence. So what about an all in offence trade to win a championship simply by outscoring everyone?

LaVine for Brook, Pat, Robin works in terms of $$$ and value. Obviously in a three team trade where Chicago nets a good FRP for Brook.

Don't think letting the ball go through Dame more means Giannis is necessarily taking a backseat or can't still be aggressive. It just means, especially given how much they theoretically compliment each other, that we should have the ball in our all-time offensive great PGs hands more. Obviously there is a lot more that goes into these stats, but at a glance from the game logs Dame has had a USG of over 30 just 10 times this season. We are 8-2 in those games. Giannis has had a USG of over 40 in 5 games and our record in those games is 2-3. 2 of those losses are when Dame was out, so it's not like Giannis being selfish or anything but I think in general we would be better on offense if we ran just a little bit more through Dame.

LaVine would be a huge diminishing returns move, makes no sense. Trading for someone like Smart makes perfect sense no matter who the coach is, in fact I'm fairly sure him and Jae coming back could get us to 15th drtg despite Griefs moronic coaching.

This is great and deserves its own thread. So easy to only focus on defense but the offense is a huge problem too. And a lot of it is Giannis not being willing to change his game. Dude is all talk and might be the biggest reason we only ever win one.

It's frustrating, because after the Dame trade Giannis said all the right things...that he'd set a million screens if it meant championships...and that he'd give up some of his usage if it meant more titles. But he doesn't seem to relent his usage to Dame enough, in my opinion.

I went back to re-read the article Nehm put out on the pick and roll combination of Dame and Giannis and there were some interesting quotes in there from Giannis that I thought he would be past by now, but I'm still not sure if he is.

Part of me wants the Bucks to say F defense, and just concentrate on overwhelming their opponent offensively. But until I see Giannis and Khris relent offensive initiation, the more I tend to lean to those two needing to be broken of their old habits and just being stubborn.

I believe this offense is at its best with Lillard initiating offense and GA starting off ball. We should be running GA/Lillard PnR almost every possession and then working off of that. Lillard is not a great off ball player. His value is in completely altering the defenses focus the second he crosses halfcourt.

Whats this BS about Giannis not willing to change his game, anyway?

We need a real & dedicated coach. Then you'd see this is just nonsense.

Guys, Marcus Smart is out at least 6 weeks with a finger injury. Time to nix those trade ideas.

Memphis traded Tyus Jones, the draft rights to Marcus Sasser (25th pick) and a future first for Smart.

How do we think our best offer compares?

Much of it comes down to how the Grizzlies value Bobby.

If the trade checkers are right it seems like we'd need to send over Pat too -- MarJon + a vet minimum like Payne isn't enough salary.

Giannis needs to set better screens, not more screens.

Two realistic trade targets are probably Dorian Finney-Smith and Kris Dunn. Whats a realistic trade packages for both?

Am I the only who thinks Giannis has changed his game a lot this season? He started rough and I was very worried but his shot selection has probably been the best of his career, or at least since his ascension to stardom.

I listened to the beginning of the bucks stuff from that pod and while I do sorta agree that Giannis likes the flashy stuff and numbers more than people think, I don’t think that’s anywhere near the top of the list of our problems.

And not ready again by the middle of March.

Memphis is soft tanking. He may not really even be injured, but at any rate I don't think this makes them more likely to move him.
