I think Randle was in his way a bit in NY. Both like to get downhill and finish in the lane. He would settle for 3's when he couldn't.

Him and Quickley - imagine having players that can actually drive into the paint, it's wild. As much as I loved OG, 2 > 1 is a highly underrated part of the trade.
Just from the eye test, what I've noticed over the past few games as well is more patience on those drives. He's not only trying to bully his way to a contested finish, but looking to suck in the D and start swinging the ball. He gives it up and it comes back to him with more advantage. Making the D actually have to rotate and scramble a little bit is opening up more lanes for everyone.
It's actually so refreshing for something that feels so basic.

RJ has been our best player since the trade, followed by IQ and Dennis. Scottie has been meh. Siakam generally slows us down with his deliberate offensive game.

RJ hitting at a 70+ ts% for us is legit hilarious. Good for him and us.
This has to be the best 6gm stretch of his career.

Keep it simple. Get downhill to the left and finish or pass. And spot up. His D is good too.

Credit to RJ, been awesome for us, efficient and hasn't been forcing his game, making good passes.

It'll be a night of 12/6/5/1 with a night of dogged defense and they'll blast him for his conditioning, body language, effort, and failure to crack 30pts because of his tunnel vision and not knowing his role.
Meanwhile another guy goes 31/4/4 on 25 shots and a -5 rating leaking back every point scored with putrid defense getting celebrated for being "back to form." After which, several threads will be bumped.

It feels like Siakam's defense has went down to just average with age like Klay Thompson. I think he's just focusing all on offense to get paid.
RJ is looking like the complete package and has that dog in him!!!

Re: Official RJ Barrett Thread
I did a quick scan of his game logs and I found one 6 game stretch back in his 2nd season where he had as good a ts% as he has as a rap, at 71.1%.
But that came on a bit lower usage (20.0usg%) so he was only at 18.4ppg, and nowhere near the rebound and assist numbers he has as a rap so far.
So i'm not 100% but I'm pretty sure this is the best 6gm stretch of RJ's career. Pretty sweet.

He had a stretch last season where he put up 27/6/4 on 61 TS% over 8 games and a 23/4/3 on 62 TS% stretch over 7 games earlier this season. I think how he's been playing with us is very encouraging though. He has generally been picking his spots well, hitting open threes and making timely cuts while his defence and playmaking has been better than advertised. I can live with the 3-4 turnover games here and there because he's just so relentless. We needed someone else to be able to get inside.

Re: Official RJ Barrett Thread
I'd like to see more criss-cross type driving action with RJ running the left side of the court with IQ, and Barnes and Siakam/Schroder on the other side. Kind of like a double triangle, with Poeltl/Siakam in the Centre. They can attack the basket and baseline with ease from either side, and there will be an easy pass to the opposite corner if they get stopped.

his usage is down from the knicks.
we're using him in transition.
we're using him attacking at the rim or catch and shoot 3's.
completely eliminated are MR jumpers, pull up shots and iso-ball.
he's really playing the .5 basketball darko wants. he's not wasting time. he gets the ball and makes a quick decision.
he's pf barrett - aka point five barrett.

he's starting to make some nice passes out of traffic after driving in, instead of chucking up a low percentage shot.
that's a very good development.

Re: Official RJ Barrett Thread
Hasn't the knock on RJ been the inconsistency and isn't it common for him to trade between really good and subpar stretches?
I need to see what bad RJ stretches do to this team before I form an opinion on his role and future on this team

I think what we see as inconsistency is sometimes related to talent. Elite players like Kawhi and PG can do what they do against everybody - RJ doesn't have that ability, so fit becomes crucial.
