If the offers are garbage, Max or near max, sure. Can then look to trade him. I still see him putting up the same stats at 32. I'm hoping he can stretch the 3 more, when he loses more athleticism. But do we have enough for the rest of the roster when Scottie and IQ get theirs?

i'd rather give slightly below max to Pascal than give money to someone like a Demarre Carroll, Jason Kapono, or Hedo Turkoglu... *shudders*

No if it's full max at 4/192. 10% discount at 175M, probably

If it's between that and him walking, then yes of course, you extend him.

Rather extend him on max than "waiting for better trade offers in the summer"

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know Pascal will not sign an extension even if you wanted to extend him

It’s time to get this over with

He won't make All-NBA so that super max isn't in play and pulling from Eric Koreen's athletic article you'd be looking at his max contract of 4 years/202.28m:

I get the sense that he isn't being shopped with how well we've been gelling as well as his play so you try to negotiate off that number. With that said, I think he's done enough this season and his career to warrant Masai locking him up and bringing him back.

Jaylen Brown got a supermax extension. (58mil AAV)

Siakam will only be eligible for a max extension which I believe is less than 50mil AAV.

Siakam > Brown

Signing him to a max contract is the right move. It's a tradeable contract. He's having his best season yet, efficiency wise, and is showing no signs of slowing down.

Unless you get a really good trade offer consisting of intriguing picks & prospects, signing him to an extension is the best thing to do.

Absolutely. Can't risk losing an allstar for nothing, and makes no sense to trade for poo platters out there.

If Pascals asking for a max contract then I would look to trade him for assets first. If there’s no appealing assets then I would rather just let him walk during free agency just to free up the cap space to sign someone like Malik Monk during free agency.

It feels sick that Kawhi took less and is making $50 million per year for 3 years and Siakam is looking at $50 million per year for 4 years. :-? I guess $45 million per year for 4 years is okay and can get some value in a trade in a year or 2.

Kawhi took regualar max I guess since he hasn't been on the Clippers for 5 years? :dontknow:

4 year max for him is fine. My guess is the 5th year is the sticking point. He will get it somewhere. We either have to give it to him or trade him.

A new team can only give 4 years term.

No point in signing Pascal to a max contract when he’s already reached his peak, his defence is already hitting in a downward trajectory. We’d probably have to attach assets just to get rid of him when he’s in his 30’s.

That’s the source of Siakam’s leverage. He can tell a team interested in trading for him he’ll only sign a 5 year max. If no one wants to give him 5 years he can just wait until the summer and choose his destination. The Raptors clearly don’t want to give him 5 years, otherwise we wouldn’t be having this discussion. Siakam is 100% a max player. Only question is whether he can get the coveted 5th year.

If they resign Siakam then Barnes will continue assuming the OG Role and essentially becomes the 4th or some nights the 5th option on this team. That is totally BS again by the FO because they are not building around Barnes and he will never become an allstar.

Teams want no part of Lavine's contract and he is one year younger. So this fairy tale of signing him to trade him later will blow uo when you trying trading a primary post player around 32-33 making 50 million.. Already teams including the Raptors don't want any deal more then 3 years because of his age and being a post player.

It looks like Quickly and RJ look like they need about 15-20 shots a night, when you include Siakam's 20 plus ISO'S then Barnes's usage goes down and then you start seeing stat lines like last season when Fred was with this team.

Either Siakam is traded or they ate not building around Barnes and not surprised he leaves at the first opportunity. Barnes himself mention OG and his great defence after the game. Most likely pissed off the FO traded our best defensive player and now he gets stuck doing the dirty which consumes loads of energy.

I think RJ and Quickly more then make up any lost scoring after trading Siakam and he needs to go

I would re-sign him to less than the max. But if he wants the max, there's a S&T opportunity, I would explore that. I don't see a Raptors championship roster with a max'd Siakam on the team still.

He's worth the max, not worth the supermax, good thing he's not eligible so we don't have to deal with that headache ....that's how I look at it. I think Raptors want him at 4 years not 5 years and that's what's holding things up.

No 5th year.
Organization can be defined as an organized body of people with a particular purpose. Not random.
