Everyone is willing to pay him the max. The issue is whether anyone is willing to pay him a 5 year max. In addition, Siakam has leverage now by telling teams whether he’s interested in resigning there. If no one wants to give him 5 years he’s better off waiting until the summer and signing wherever he wants (a sign and trade is possible).

If Kyrie and Harden could get good returns despite their uncertainty then Siakam will too going into a trade deadline he’s the best available player.

Agreed. Raps will get something interesting, not worried about it.

If they wanted him to stay, they would have extended him already.

Yeah there is to me little chance he extends to stay. If he extends, it is to be traded. But I think he just gets traded.

This is us Masai, he is doing his thing and not being rushed. To this point he hasn't needed to extend, so he leaves the possibility of a trade open. If there is no trade by the deadline he will extend. He is optimizing assets in real time. Why would he tip his hand either way?

The fallback option I suppose is giving him the full 4 year contract with 8 percent raises with an understanding that he will be traded to the a list of teams he provides. A list that does not have to include teams that have capspace. So he gets a wider range of teams to choose from and additional money than he could get leaving in free agency.

Unless the team he wants to sign with will have the ability to give him the 4 year contract. The way he's operating, he seems very comfortable telling teams he won't re-sign with them. He has spoken to a team or two and knows he can sign with them.

Any team that signs him outright is offering him less than the team that has his bird rights who can both offer him more AAV and an extra year too. He's telling teams he won't extend since they can only do 2 years which is much different than not re-signing.

Woj saying that Pascal will have a large say due to his expiring contract and his thoughts about a max deal really makes me think Indy is the perfect fit.

They have the money to sign him next year, they may also want to do something this year to even just test out whether they should give a max contract out. Any team that would just give a max deal to someone not named Kevin Durant would be taking on a huge risk in free agency.

I will further stand behind any deal for Isiah Stewart+Bogdanovic from Detroit. They may not be immediate winners, but they can max out Siakam and make some trades to build that team up.

Similarly Charlotte could do the same because they need a culture setter and Siakam would be great. PJ Washington/Nick Richards/Gordon Hayward for Siakam/Boucher/McDaniels seems fair to me. Two really good big men and a year of Hayward is fair.
