DFS has become more and more overrated as time goes on, not sure how much better than Highsmith he is at this point he's not even worth a 1st unless your dropping unwanted salary not a game changing player at all.

A bubble Dragic type of guard would do the trick.

I suspect that Murray could offer a similar impact.
Dragic became Super Saiyan Dragic in playoffs until he broke himself. So yes it took another super performer.

He’s was excellent. Hit a lot of timely buckets. Carried the offense for stretches. But he never really went too crazy. Never scored 30 or more or registered 10+ assists. No gaudy performances really. And that’s the point; Mia doesn’t necessarily need someone who gets gaudy numbers. A solid player who can assume the primary scoring role for stretches to spare Jimmy at times and can make timely plays in the playoffs will do just fine.

Pace slows down in the playoffs. And they had to completely bench Nunn.
Dragic was the number 2 guy. Is Murray gonna take that role away from Bam, Herro or even Jaquez? If you think he will take 15-18 shots a game then it's worth the likely cost.

Not sure, good thing about someone like Murray though is unlike Herro, he can effect the game in other areas when he isn’t scoring/is having an off shooting night just like our 2 stars. The rebounding, playmaking, and defense will always be there.

On most nights, Bam as the number 3 scorer yielding to a legit number 2 would be best for the team Imo.

It’d up to Jimmy and the #2 guy to not only carry the scoring load but to also involve Bam and get him easier buckets.

You still have a 1st or 2, Herro, Murray to recoup assets if needed. We’d be able to work something out

But we're now squarely over the second apron and still need to add another player because we sent out three and only received two. That's not where we want to be.

How are we over the 2nd apron? I did the math already. Everything works out beautifully. Many variations to get away from the super tax this year and away from tax next year cause of Lowry’s expiring. We would have MLE money next year cause of Robinson’s deal coming off the books in the trade. If we include Bryant’s contract in the deal it’s another 2.5 off. The Murray trade offers better avenues then most.

This year, we're $25k below it but the trade presented adds $1.7 million by your numbers, and we'd still need to add another player to be roster compliant. How do we avoid it?

So Murray as the #2. If that's the commitment and goal then its worth it. Tyler would drop to a specialist 4th or 5th guy. Seeing Tyler compete for 10 shots a game with Jaquez would have his fan base revolting Civil War

Murray’s not that guy imo, it would be Jimmy as number 1 and then Bam/Murray/Herro on any given night. If you want a clear cut number 2 to Jimmy then we need to aggressively go after Mitchell, not trying to completely fleece the Cavs in the process.

I’d move Herro for Murray.

Duncan is the better fit as the off-ball guard next to Murray.

Future cap considerations are also a factor.

Murray
Herro
Butler
Martin
Adebayo

Is a championship calibre 5. With Love, Rich, Jaquez and Jovic off the bench. I like it.

Bubble run was peak egolitarian offense up until supernova Jimmy in the finals which may have not been the case if not for Dragic and Bams injuries. I believe Dragic was the leading scorer through the first 3 rounds but it was very close. I mean we closed the Celtics out with Herros 37 in game 5 followed by a Bam game 6 masterclass of 32-14-6. It was just whoever’s night it was that night they were going to go off and lead the charge while the other guys had around 15-20

I’d be trying to get Murray without Herro and possibly flipping Herro for another guy at the 4

That team was special. Deserved to win the chip. If Goran and Edrice were healthy going into the final round, I’m totally confident we’d have won too. Sucks.

why? Just trade Herro, then you Murray, Martin/Duncan, Butler, Jaquez and Bam to play. You seen how the team looked when Duncan replaced Herro

Your starting to see it. Duncan ability to score 20 plus on 10 fga is important

I think Dejounte is exactly the type of player Spo would target. Id love him here but the cost would likely be too much.

Don't forget Duncan had four 20 plus point games in that playoff run

The cost would be no different then chasing the ever elusive magical star unicorn that can take upwards of 4-5 1st. The market for Murray was 1 protected 1 swap and 2 unprotected’s when originally dealt. I think today’s price should be lower. 1 protected 1 swap and 1 unprotected. I think that’s fair considering we would be giving them another two years of Duncan.
