Like it's gotten to the point it's just utter stupidity that even if you think Siakam isn't worth the max, there are plenty of teams who do. Because of that, not locking him up right away was just a bad decision and Masai has put himself into a really tough spot where we will get less than his true value, if we get anything at all.

Exactly. And they have no intention of giving him that. So they need to do this before the deadline. The 5% vs 8% increase isn't going to be enough to make Siakam choose the Raptors over others lol
