Can Silver strip the Spurs of Wemby?

Post#1 » by Dominator83 » Sat Jan 13, 2024 5:01 am

They're going full bush league with him here. Sitting him tomorrow after a while 19 minutes tonight? How many historical games have they already robbed him of? A couple weeks ago he was on Quadruple double watch and they held him to 24 minutes. One of those games he snuck past Pop to check himself back in the game. If I'm him in using my player empowerment to say play me or trade me!

He’s the one who gave them Wemby in the first place.

He's not yet cleared to play B2Bs. By the MEDICAL STAFF.

Still on a minutes restriction.

Will likely not play in the following B2B in case anyone wants to prepare a thread ahead of time for that one lol

The guy just turned 20, he could have another 20 seasons in front of him, if he's lucky.

Yes this is totally within the power of the NBA commissioner, who works for the NBA owners.

Silver and the League are probably advising on how to prolong this guy's career. This guy can be the face of the league but his build is terrifying. No need to risk anything in his rookie year when the team is bum juice. Build him slowly.

People just cant stomach that the Spurs have a generational star. Guess what folks? Get used to it. He's going to be a Spur at least for the next 7 years.

Spurs can't be cautious in protecting their just-turned-20-year-old star?
Why the hell not? Spurs don't work for you, they work for Spurs fans.
We good. Be smart w the kid.
We want championships not a couple more highlights, and so does Wemby.

It does feel that way. What exactly are they tanking for in a very weak draft?

Why is he on a minutes restriction and not doing b2b? Was there an injury. I’ve been wondering why he gets tired so fast for a 20 year old

He stepped on the ballboys foot slightly like 3 weeks ago. I guess that means he barely plays ROS :-?

Yes he rolled his ankle three times in a short time span.

He gets body assessments after each game, and will be evaluated/scanned for the ankle specifically soon.

The conditioning/playing versus NBA PFs and now Cs/two-way play is an adjustment. He started the season with slow first halves, coming on strong late. Now he has much higher, concentrated usage, from start to finish, and rest interspersed between.

He turned his ankle not so long ago, they are simply being cautious. For a team that isn't going to be competitive this year, I'd say they are doing a good job being careful about how they use a guy who is 7'4 and 210 lb at 20 years old.

If he's missing every back to back and on a mins restriction all season in his prime then we can talk.

After seeing chet lose a year playing a pick up game I think I'm cool seeing Wemby taken care of after suffering an ankle injury, no point in risking him in a meaningless game in a developmental season.
