If we trade Randle after never allowing IQ RJ and Obi to touch the floor for 20 games we gotta admit we were talking advantaged by CAA.

nobody but brunson should really be safe.
RIP magnumt

Who's idea was it to make Randle play the way he did in the '21 playoffs? Did it have anything to do with the relative talent of the other players on the team?

The film stated his ankle was a big factor last season in the playoffs. I can't argue with that.

What can Randle do this season? I suppose we're going to have to watch the games to see. In a tough loss last night, he only scored 32 points on 12 of 23 shooting, with 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Not enough for us to win, but was the rest of the team better?

The problem last year wasn't just the ankle.. and anyone saying that is lying to their self. The problem was that he didnt adjust to the bum ankle AT ALL. He could have played decoy. He could have focused more on the glass and setting up others. Instead, he forced stupid shots and pouted when he got no results. He has fought with teammates, coaches, etc. The dude just has a terrible response to adversity... and, idc who you are, there is always going to be adversity... especially in the playoffs. No one is above it.

I do my best to compliment Randle when he plays well and this season he has played really well much of the time.

But he is the ultimate tease, because

HE WILL ALMOST ALWAYS LET YOU DOWN

Last game he was bad in the first half. He was on fire in the second half.

BUT

with 30 seconds to go and the game on the line, what does Randle do?

He stands in the paint aimlessly while bodies are flying all around trying to catch rebounds. He just turned around like a little girl doing spins on a grassy knoll without a care in the world.

AND HE DOES THIS ALL THE DAMN TIME.

I'm sick of having to depend on a guy who is so useless when you need him most.

You will never build a championship team with Randle as one of your primary options. NOT A CHANCE IN HELL. This guy will always melt down at crucial times. He's not built for the playoffs and he will let us down again.

Trade him. Take all of those glorious points of his and trade his loser ass.

He was an absolute joke on defense in the first half, especially in the first quarter. You can argue that we lost because of him doing nothing on D. At least I wanna see some effort, but it's like a lottery with him.

Well, in a lottery you can calculate your odds. This is more like Forest Gump's box of chocolates: "You never know what you're gonna get."

I've always said Randle is a mental midget and his defense is below average. Oh, his spinning in traffic is something to behold and he loves doing that sh.it He is a very good no.2 option and if we can find another player that can take off the load from Randle, he will be a GREAT 3rd option.

However, we do not appreciate what Randle has done during his Knicks tenure. He is probably the best Knick since Ewing. He is a 2x All-NBA and All-Star and possibly getting his 3rd nod for both. Something we do not appreciate with Randle is that he is open-minded on doing something different. Not many All-NBA players are willing to defer but he did ever since Brunson came on board. Not many is a willing passer but he is one of the best big man passer in the league. He has gone from shooting too many 3s to now attacking the basket. His willingness to see the bigger picture and sacrifice some parts of his game to get other players involved should be commended.

Also, how many All-NBA players making 25 million in the age of this 2nd apron where it severely handicaps you? If they want to get a better offensive weapon in his position, the time to do it is probably this offseason. His contract is very attractive and people that dismiss him as a positive asset is insane.

He is tradeable. Just the inflationary rise in salaries alone makes him a good value for someone other than the Knicks. If they want to move him they will find a trading partner. I expect they are exploring their options for either this trade deadline or the off-season. Randle is not an untouchable. The only one's are Brunson and now OG whom they intend to keep a Knick for a while.

My assumption is they won't do anything now unless a great deal emerges. They will likely bolster the lineup and roll the dice with Randle the remainder of the season. But unless we shock the world in the playoffs my guess is they will look to trade him in the off-season for the very same reason: He's not reliable when it counts most.

So it's cool that he has been very good as a scorer for us and that some Knicks fans have been really happy with him. It doesn't change the truth that he is a mental midget under pressure and he will never take us to the promised land.

Therefore, you must move him while he still has value.

I'd try to move him right now before he destroys his value again with another crap playoff performance. If they can make a great trade right now I'd applaud them for doing it while his value is intact from this regular season's numbers.

Here's a little experiment to try.

Close your eyes and picture an important contributor on a winner. KG, Kidd, Dirk, Ginobili, Dray, Giannis, Bron, Wade, Battier, Jrue, Kawhi... yada yada.
Any one of those guy's highlight reels is full of high effort plays. Images of them leaving it all out on the floor, risking crushing defeat for the chance to win.
Now picture Randle (or Melo for that matter). Do you see the effort plays? Take your time....
Can you picture the mental toughness to make a series changing chase down block when it looks like all is lost, to galvanize for a whole season to come back from a fluke rebound Ray Allen 3, to fight through a severely hyperextended knee, to take on a super team with a worn out body in your mid 30s, to repeatedly kick people in the nuts at the risk of suspension...

Randle makes us better than no Randle, but he will never make us winners.

Well done

and Exactly That

Brunson and OG are championship caliber pieces.

We still need two more champion quality guys in the starting lineup if you consider iHart/Mitch to be championship centers

We may have some championship quality role players already. I think Donte can be one of those guys

Randle is not that guy

Trading Randle should never be a question of replacing his points, but of getting winning players

We're still building

Even if we make a run past the second round with Randle, we're still building a team

Exactly. What separates goos and bad teams is so much less than people realize. It's a handful of possessions. A couple of turnovers here. A few offensive rebounds there. A couple missed rotations. Not managing the clock right here. Forcing a shot there. To steal a quote from Coach Tony D'Amato: "The inches we need are everywhere around us."

Randle simply does not respect those aspects of the game. That precision. That concentration. That nuance. And, it will make the difference between winning and losing, unless we have enough margin-for-error, to compensate for it... which we do not.

Return to New York Knicks
