Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
Been saying this for a while.
We have our future let's start building around them. Guys like Hayward/Rozier are not helping us win games. Get some value for them and start rebuilding around our young core.

What would you guys say to Tobias Harris, Marcus Morris, and 4 2nds for PJ Washington and Gordon Hayward?

i'm done pretending that 2nd rounders are actual trade value, so no.

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
Does nothing for us. Gordo gives us Tobias level production when healthy - Tobias is more of a scorer, Gordo a facilitator. Morris is a corpse. So we're basically swapping Gordo's expiring for Tobias' expiring. The trade is really PJ for 4 2nds.
We're among the worst if not the worst team in the league - not like we're trying to win this year - no need to trade a young player on a value contract in PJ just to switch aging, expiring vets (even if I'm not super-high on PJ).
Neither here nor there, but for the Sixers, seems Tobias' salary # would be better used as filler for a swap for someone like Lavine, etc.

They have trade value, but I understand you might not be excited by that return.

You don't see Tobias as an upgrade on Hayward? Because he is. Besides scoring he's a much better defender, and he's hardly ever hurt. Anyway, if it was Tobi for PJ and filler is that more acceptable?

Sorry, I do think Tobias is the better player, I also think we need to trade Gordo. It's more about relative value to a historically bad Hornets team this year and if we'd be willing to flip a young asset for a bit of a vet upgrade for a few months. Curious - does Tobias' bird rights transfer?

he might be, but what does paying value for swapping expiring for better expiring do for Charlotte?
Not to mention, I think Hayward is more likely to re-sign with Charlotte (at a hopefully much more reasonable price) and is a great fit when he is healthy. He's moved his family to Charlotte. Harris is highly redundant with Bridges, and given he's spending half a season with a tanking org before hitting FA there's likely no future. Any upgrade that Harris might be over Hayward is overshadowed by that.
As mentioned, it boils down to PJ for 4 super low value picks (none of the picks you own will wind up in the top half of the 2nd round), which is a no-go. We already have too much fringe talent, and not enough rotation caliber players. Want PJ and/or Hayward? come back with something that can actually help the team down the line.

Yes they do. And there's no reason he wouldn't resign with you guys on a sub max deal. He's also great in the locker room, for whatever that's worth.

The Sixers are content with max cap space. Was just checking the temperature in the room.

I don't know if it's possible to S&T or get assurances from Tobias' camp re: resigning, but if we're not looking at a half-season rental, I'd def be more open to it.

Are we really going to buyout Hayward?
This franchise is a joke. At least add Bridges with him and get some value back. We could possibly lose both Hayward and Bridges for nothing.

I really can't imagine we buy him out but I couldn't have imagined us doing a lot of the stupid things we've done.

It's not like we would get an attractive trade offer and turn it down to buy him out

Re: Fake Trade Thread #5
i think a buy out of hayward is 50/50
- possible they value expirings more than a player coming back on multi yr
- possible they cant find a team willing to send equal expiring salary & draft capital
- no point in keeping him on roster after trade deadline, might as well reach buyout, save money let gh sign with playoff team

I wouldn't buy him out even if he wanted it.
If someone wants him, they need to trade for him.
He isn't going to cause any trouble, so I'd rather let him expire than to let someone else have him for free.

This, this, and absolutely this.
